psalm_onethirtyone: (The Perfect Pool)
Got my Yuletide assignment yesterday. It's pretty cool and I think there is a lot of potential in it, and I think I also can do a good job with it -- certain elements of it weird me out, but the prompter gave me a lot to work with so I think I leave some things out while still giving them what they want. So I am excited!

I go home to-day for Thanksgiving, so I'll be scarce for the next week.

A presenter in my cog psych class used this page about art by autistic people in his presentation, and I thought that was pretty neat, so here is the link. It is pretty cool from both an art and a mental shenanigans standpoint. (I also ended up talking about the gender issues surrounding autism with the professor after class, which was pretty neat -- she agreed with [ profile] mhari and said that autism is generally viewed as a "boy's disorder" and not something girls are supposed to get.)

Octopodes can go on land and that is totally awesome. Plus also super cute.

Although we already knew that, Ann Coulter is a maniac and I don't understaaaand, Jesus. I don't want to live on this planet any more? Liz said I should move to Canada, but I feel it is my duty to model sane Christianity for people in America.

I am currently using this programme to try and manage my issues with computer light = migraines; I've only had it downloaded for a day, so I haven't got a real clear idea of how well it works yet, but it's an interesting idea.

This tumblr exists and it is pretty pro -- Ugly Renaissance Babies.

A really interesting essay/article on why "born this way" is a bad argument for queerness.

This guy is my hero -- a devout Muslim whose faith led him to try to save the man who shot him. I heard an interview with him on NPR on Sunday -- he was really incredible. Warning: Article contains pictures of headshot.

For your webcomic organising needs, piperka is a great site for tracking updates and keeping stuff neat.

Finally, when you have just delivered a good Caruso zinger, the instant CSI. Yeahhhhh!

[ profile] eremon_lass, I have written you silly Kay/Bedi! Happy belated birthday! :)

Important Notice

Okay, guys. I know it's mid-October and like reasonable people we are all spending our money on comfort food. But here is the deal.

[ profile] raanve is super goddamn awesome. And right now she is trying to get her degree in composition and rhetoric while working a pretty full-time job. Only right now she and her husband are kind of tight financially, such that he is taking another job, and she wants to, but does not have time. Now she is really close to graduating -- in fact, in March, is everything goes well -- and she basically deserves this more than anything, and the first time around she was unable to finish getting her degree, so it would be totally horrible if she got tripped up this time when she is SO CLOSE. Because here's the thing: she loves teaching. And I love listening to her talk about teaching, because it really seems to make her so happy, and it just seems utterly wrong that she might have to stop teaching because her funds gave out MONTHS before she got her degree.

So I am fundraising, goddammit.

It is as it was last time, five-hundred words for every five dollars you donate. I will write you Les Mis, Arthurian legend, Westmark trilogy, Shakespeare, C.J. Cherryh (badly tho), fairy tales, Bible fanfic, Star Trek, Firefly, Greek Myth, and Sherlock. I am also totally capable of edjumacating myself if there are other fandoms in which you are interested.

AS A BONUS, I will also offer art! For fifteen dollars or more you can have the animal of your choice created for you out of paper collage. And in case you're wondering, I am really really good at paper collage. I'm not even kidding. I can offer samples of my work if necessary, but let's just say I was selling these damn things for forty-five dollars apiece for a while, in a local gallery. So this is awesome and you definitely want it. Christmas is coming up! I will even frame the bastards.

So yeah. Donate money, it will store up treasures for you in heaven. Also, Jess is amazing and you want to make her life better.

psalm_onethirtyone: (Annie with Red Hair)
So I finally finished the last book in Gerald Morris' Arthurian series. I had been getting steadily more disappointed, as the last three or four books were kind of awful, but the last one was actually really good. I mean, evil!2-D!Mordred, but I've really given up on that front. And yeah. I cried. At my client's house, stealthily, while she was napping and watching The Waltons. >_> I would say Mr. Morris has seen himself off with a pleasing dignity.

BUT now I am all sad b/c all my dumb Arthurian boys are dead, so obvs. this is your cue to ask for porn of them, as I am doing: THIS MEME (which shall be called This Meme):

01 » Submit a pairing (or threesome, or solo person) and a prompt by replying to this post.

02 » Please use the following format: fandom, pairing, prompt.

03 » I'll then reply with five* sentences of smut.
[The original meme does say that you can request gen/other non-smutty things, but I'll say straight up that I'd prefer to flex my porn muscles (that was a TERRIBLE thing to say) and so would prefer that request. Having said that, y'all can of course request whatever you'd like, and I may even turn some requests into gen depending on how I feel about my ability to write the smut. Also, I guess "solo person" here refers to masturbation in the context of smut? Which I'm fine with too!] <-- so said [ profile] blindmadness and [ profile] julietveiled, so say I.

04 » If I can't do the prompt then I will beg for your forgiveness, and offer it up to others let you select another if you'd like.

This is not really restricted to Arthuriana. I also write Sherlock, Westmark, certain historical novels, Shakespeare, and can probably be conned into others if you remind me of what they are (when I'm done I will tag this post with the appropriate fandoms).
psalm_onethirtyone: (Spinny Wheel of Death)
Sherlock ficspam! Sorry about this, guys.

[ profile] _grayswandir_ beta-read the first two of these for me, by the way, because she is awesome like a boss. The last one is unedited, and mostly a collection so it's not just scattered across Tumblr.

Title: A Study in Grey
Characters: Mycroft/Lestrade, implied Sherlock/John
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Mycroft creeps on Lestrade because he loves him.
Notes: You know Lestrade watches Dr. Who. >_>

'He has no understanding of love, not in the traditional sense.' )

Title: Five Scenes They Left Out of A Great Game
Characters: Lestrade, Mycroft, Moriarty, Sherlock, John
Rating: PG-17 for Moriarty. >_>
Summary: What was going on between the finding of the Missile Defence Plans and the swimming pool.

'...Sherlock is damned if he doesn’t want more, he wants to be closer, he wants to see who the Queen is because he’s sick of taking out Knights and Rooks.' )

Title: Passing
Characters: Sherlock, John, Mycroft
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Sherlock is ftm. John finds out.
Notes: I talked to trans and genderqueer people about this fic while I was writing it, but I may well have fucked up anyway. If I have, please know that it was unintentional, and please educate me so I know better in the future.

'The operation takes two years all told.' )
psalm_onethirtyone: (Mycroftian Horrors)
Oh hay I wrote a silly fanfic. Uh, yeah, it's BBC!Watson wearing lingerie for a case. :D

idk I've got a migraine and the world is not conforming to my standards, so there you go.
psalm_onethirtyone: (Spinny Wheel of Death)
Title: The Cuckoo's Child
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters/Pairings: Mycroft, Sherlock, John, implied Sherlock/John
Rating: Mild R
Notes: [ profile] _grayswandir_ is an amazing beta. For the win.
Summary: Mycroft is creepy as hell. Also, Sherlock is a disaster.

The Cuckoo's Child )
psalm_onethirtyone: (Mycroftian Horrors)
So I may have written another Sherlock fic. >_> It is really long and a history of Mycroft and has pretty heavily implied Sherlock/Watson. And I needs a beta-reader. >_> So if anyone would possibly not mind doing this, please let me know.

Meanwhile, down to about three finals. I'm actually starting to feel a bit less like killing myself. As a present to myself, I will be re-dyeing my hair this afternoon to bright fuck-off red.

Also, Goldstein e-mailed me my final grade for poetry class, and I got an A. :D So I need to pick up my portfolio and post the rest of my poems, since they went well.
psalm_onethirtyone: (Gross Things are Cool!)
Title: The Antidote, pt. II
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters/Pairings: Sherlock, John, one-sided John/Sherlock
Rating: PG-16
Summary: Sherlock tackles a distasteful question.
Notes: [ profile] skaryma is the best beta-reader ever. ♥ Also, Part I is here.

The Antidote, pt II )
psalm_onethirtyone: (Therefore Be Free)
Ohay giez, I put a fic up for auction at [ profile] thepurpledove here. :D

Also, I am writing too much Sherlock fic what even.

psalm_onethirtyone: (Gross Things are Cool!)
So when I'm not making whiny posts on my livejournal and writing horrible papers that will earn failing grades, sometimes I write fanfiction. A lot of my fanfiction lately has been about my horrible Arthurian space AU that nobody actually cares about, but some of it has been in the Sherlock fandom, a fandom I was wickedly lured into by Liz and Jen and [ profile] lyricnote, who are terrible people.

It occurred to me that I am actually allowed to post this fanfiction, even if it is ridiculous and a WIP and everybody hates WIPs.

I find the bizarre mixture of the very serious and the comical/ridiculous that pervades this show to be fascinating and weird. It's also hard to write. It exists in Firefly, too, but it seems weirder in Sherlock. Anyway, I realise my Sherlock Holmes is vaguely autism spectrum, and I don't care. >_> Writing sociopaths is hard for me; and besides, I think Benedict Cumberbatch's portrayal has distinctly autistic notes. My Sherlock is also horrifically asexual, srry there will be no sex in this fic. >_<

Title: The Antidote
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters/Pairings: Sherlock, John, one-sided John/Sherlock, Sarah and Mycroft sort-of.
Rating: PG-16
Summary: I DON'T EVEN KNOW. Sherlock is on a mission to prevent Sarah from stealing John away from him.
Notes: Part 1. Part II is currently 3/4 finished.

The Antidote )

Title: Case Studies
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters/Pairings: Sherlock, Mycroft
Rating: PG
Summary: Maybe this is why Mycroft describes himself as Sherlock's arch-enemy. >_> Kid!fic.
Notes: My Mycroft is totally a germaphobe. I think it is distressingly plausible.

Case Studies )
psalm_onethirtyone: (Slightly Confuzzled - Holly Brook)
Oh, kittens. I swear I am going to respond to the comments left on my two previous posts, I am just terribly distractable and tired right now. So have a collection of diverting things that I have made from the internets:

1. A meme.

Pick one of my current rp characters and I will:

(a) Three facts about them from my personal fanon.
(b) A reason they're amazing.
(c) Five things that I'd like to see happen to them.
(d) Three people that I might ship that character with and why.

I'll probably do old characters, too, if you ask; I am pliable that way.

2. A tumblr.

Fuck Yeah, Benedict Cumberbatch. Oooh yeah.

3. A game.

I had sex with Oprah.

4. Photography.

Hummingbirds, it turns out, are as derpy as the rest of us.

5. A Polyvore.

This always makes me happy.

6. A fanfiction.

Raj/Howard, Big Bang Theory. Yesssss.

7. A request.

I'm almost done with a Holmes/Watson Sherlock fanfic, would anyone mind beta-reading it for me?
psalm_onethirtyone: (Men Behaving Stupidly)
So, Thanksgiving break. I got into a yelling match with my uncle because he said that children don't absorb racist messages in films and that if you're not mentally deficient you should be able to turn off your sociological cultural context when you go to watch a movie, ha ha. I am not overly fond of my uncle.

On the plus side, I also got my hair cut and it is super cute. My hermit crabs enjoyed living in Mama and Daddy's room where the main heater is, and they are mad at me for bringing them back to school and putting them in my cold dorm room. :( I really need to buy them a heat lamp like I promised.

I am so not ready to start back to classes, so my plan for to-night is to hide in my room and pretend nothing exists.

Also, here is an incredibly depressing Arthurian space!AU fic that I wrote for [ profile] mhari:

Title: These Happy Endings
Fandom: Arthuriana IN SPACE!
Characters/Pairings: Gadriet/Eluned [Gaheris/Lynette], sundry extras.
Rating: PG-16
Notes: Gadriet suffers from schizophrenia and as a result he self-medicates with animal tranquilisers. Eluned is aware of this fact and has been for a long time.

Also, if you aren't aware of what a botfly is, don't google it. And especially don't google image search it. Really, I'm doing you a favour.

These Happy Endings )
psalm_onethirtyone: (N./A. Divan!)

i am not sure how but for some reason i am part of Sherlock fandom now. I need vid and fic recs. >_<

psalm_onethirtyone: (Baby Got a Sweet Ride)
Iii am going to the Small Press Expo to-morrow and Sunday with some people from school, specifically [ profile] isjusterin and her ~romantic interest~, and I think it is going to be awesome. We're trying to rope Liz into it too, but she's resisting.

But she has arthritis, so knocking her down and tying her up may not be that hard.*

In the meantime, I am trying to do my laundry so I have actual underwear for to-morrow, and reading Stephane Lambiel porn, because I am a terrible person. At least I know it.

*yeah right. she's a second-degree black belt in karate.
psalm_onethirtyone: (Lance Suuuuuuuucks)
Since Lancelot is about the only Arthurian character for whom I have not offered some kind of alternate-interpretation maybe-you-do-not-totally-suck-despite-preconceived-notions-held-by-many-authors--mainly because Lancelot is the golden boy of Arthurian re-interpretation profic and has more fans that he deserves to begin with--I present the following to remedy.

(oh, p.s. I'm on vacation right now which is why my comments have been even more sporadic than usual. bear with me, thanks. >_>)

Title: The Knight of the Star
Fandom: Arthuriana
Characters/Pairings: Lancelot, Bors, Lionel, implied Lance/Gwen
Rating: PG at worst
Notes: I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't indulge myself with pointless description. :P

He had borne the night-long vigil in the chapel without effort, praying to God for more strength when he remembered but mostly daydreaming of future quests and beautiful ladies. )
psalm_onethirtyone: (Dye My Eyes and Call Me Pretty)
I seem to have written ALL THE FIC IN THE WORLD during the month of July. Idk. This is about two weeks old.

Title: Portions for Foxes
Fandom: Arthuriana
Characters/Pairings: Sagramore/OC
Rating: PG-13
Notes: Present for [ profile] mhari! Completely based on a throwaway comment Sagramore made during rp, because I am a nerd.

It wasn’t what she would have chosen, if she had been able to choose exactly what kind of friends they would be )
psalm_onethirtyone: (Dye My Eyes and Call Me Pretty)

Title: Holy Week
Fandom: Arthurian
Characters/Pairings: Galahad, Percy, Heliabel, implications of pairings wherever you want to see them.
Rating: PG
Notes: An Easter present for [ profile] tiamatschild! It only took me four months, too! Sigh.

I am not a prophet. I am not even a prophet’s son. )

Title: The New Britain Job
Fandom: Arthurian/Firefly
Characters/Pairings: Mal, Inara, Companion!Sagramore, Gaheris, Dinadan
Rating: PG
Notes: Totally fluffy and self-indulgent. A birthday present for [ profile] skaryma, who should feel better soon. ♥

Anyone would think Mal was jealous or something, and Mal doesn’t get jealous. )

Title: Optimism
Fandom: Arthurian AU
Characters/Pairings: Gareth, Clarissant, Lyonors, Agravain, Gawain, Morgause, sundries; Gareth/Lyonors, Lamorak/Morgause
Rating: PG-13
Notes: [ profile] snowyofthenight challenged me to write a story based on the fact that Gaheris and Gareth used to be the same character. Her question was "does that mean Gareth originally killed Morgause?" He didn't, it used to be Agravain (and still is some places), but I wrote the fic anyway. Also, I tried out a totally new style of writing, so I apologise, a tricky AU challenge is probably not the place to see what would happen if you used modern narration in an Arthurian fic, but hopefully it's not too jarring.

It is also a horror story. I'm not sure how that happened, but it totally did. If it creeps you out a bit, then I did my job right.

Everyone had this idea that Gareth was stupid because he was optimistic, but he saw more than he said and always had. )
psalm_onethirtyone: (Little Breezes Dusk and Shiver)
Meme, robbed from [ profile] eremon_lass. Also, to-morrow is Posting Of Tonnes Of Fic Day, so beware. There are horrors.

Also, I have been having nighttime crashes like crazy lately, I don't even know what. Dear Brain: can I please not get depressed at night for a few days? That would be nice. Love, me.

1. Write down the names of 10 characters.
2. Write a fic of fifteen words or less for every prompt [the last one goes over by two words, but
I don't care], using the characters determined by the numbers. Do NOT read the prompts before you do step 1.

1. Sagramore
2. Ragnelle
3. Galahad
4. Dinadan
5. Kay
6. Mordred
7. Arthur
8. Lancelot
9. Guenever
10. Agravain

This was harder than it looks. O_o )
