Oh! I have. Quite a few years ago, and I would love so much to go back. We went in August, so it was not so terribly cold, but still enough so to wear jackets at night-- although the fun thing was that the sun did not go down until 11 o'clock or so, though I'm sure Iceland was worse so! We were in Anchorage for the most part, which is a lovely little city, and visited with friends of the family (a friend of my mother's from college who works at Alaska's State University and is flown between campuses on little planes!), who showed us around. There's an amazing amount of museums and such devoted to Inuit and Native American heritage, culture, and art-- I remember a whole art gallery devoted to Inuit youths who were creating artwork in the style of their ancestors.

It's absolutely gorgeous outside of the cities, though. We were going to go to Denali National Park (guh, six million acres, and Mt. McKinley!), but sadly, that did not happen. We did go to Seward, and the drive there from Anchorage is a few hours and so, so, so pretty. It's a little harbour town (very, very small city, but shhh) on the Kenai Peninsula, with adorable little houses and restaurants that sell fish that was caught out on the water that morning. Andandand we went whale-watching. I'd been whale-watching previously, out of Boston, when we mostly saw dolphins, but-- whale-watching in Alaska! We took a cruise through Kenai Fjords National Park, which rather predictably has fjords! And glaciers, some calving and some not; we stopped to talk a walk along the latter. And of course, we saw whales-- mostly humpback, but also orca.

I loved it. ^__^

...XD I want to see/hear now. I know that I liked that version well enough, but cannot remember specifics.

Well! That's quite a few, then. *grins*
