It is a GREAT book! And Pyetr falling for 'Veshka is SO ill advised, and Sasha and Pyetr are SO CUTE together and it cracks me up that Sasha's speech patterns are all gendered weird. (He talks like a girl!)

It takes Sasha FOREVER to get snippy about the situation - which is classic Sasha, he doesn't freak too good. And they should fight crime! Supernatural crime! This is why I have a noir au for them. :D And he so, so does. Notice the way he tends to qualify his statements and is extremely diffident.

He is, he's such a sweetheart. I should bring my version out more. :D I haven't really written it - it's really, really, really au, and features Sasha The Former Soviet Partisan who kind of got himself exiled to the US and is superstious as anything in a very amusingly devoted communist sort of way, which Pyetr, who doesn't have Sasha's ideological convictions or his firm belief in old beliefs, thinks is totally insane.

('veshka's the daughter of a very cranky former mentor of Sasha's - I think, I haven't totally worked out that relationship - who gets herself mixed up in the mob.)

It's all late forties dirty city, fish out of water Sasha stuff.
