"Would You Freak Out if I Said I Liked You...?"
So! We are going to ignore yesterday's whining; I only get one whine a month, and I have done it. Now we'll get on to constructive stuff and no self-pity.
I went clothes shopping to-day! This was mostly because Mum said, "You're going to Boston! People in Boston dress nice! You need new clothes!". So I got three new tops and a really gorgeous brown skirt with beading. The tops all look really cute on me, and I am feeling confident enough to say that. Cute! One is pink and layery and has big watercolourish flowers, and one is black and sparkly and gives me actual cleavage without making me want to cover myself in eight other layers to hide it, and the third one is white and diaphanous and so light I can't even tell it's long-sleeved when I wear it. So I have great new clothes to wear! I won't embarrass Manon's family! :D And they were all on clearance (not Manon's family, the clothes. naturally.), but the saleslady was incredibly nice to me. Mum gave me a budget, and she made sure I kept in it, and made me try everything on and show her, and picked me out only things from the clearance racks. And then when we totalled up I was one dollar under my maximum, and she said, "Ooh, I bet your mom would like it if you were more under," and she had me put something back, so I was twenty-two dollars under instead. And I did pick the most expensive thing to put back. It was a very, very fine black and white plaid on a sort of sexy librarian shirt; it had little bows on the sleeves and a collar and was very form-fitting. And I have discovered that feeling bodily comfortable makes clothes shopping fun. I liked it! I didn't have hysterics! There was no crying!
And then I went to Hallmark and got sandal-shaped sour gummi candy for Waen, which she loves (sandal-shaped!), and some glitter and things for me, and a new bracelet to replace the one I gave away. It is teeny little coloured stones braided together with silver wire, and it has a tiny heart charm on the clasp. So pretty!
And Mum and I had lunch together at my favourite place and then we came home and I scraped the entire woodshed and I have blisters everywhere but I don't care. It was a really good day.
To-morrow I work at the library, and Saturday I'm going to Chelsey's graduation party. She was my partner all through bowling class, and I really like her, so I'm looking forward to this. I got her a nice present! And wrapt it pretty! So I'm happy. Plus I've got part of the next chapter of Catechism written in my head, so I can get right to work on that, maybe to-night.
