"Oh, fantasy free me..."

So, while Mum was driving me to work to-day, we got stopped up in traffic for a little bit just outside of [town], and while we were waiting, a group of cars and trucks with little Funeral flags on them passed us. The following dialogue was spoken:

Mum: Ugh, a funeral on a day like this.
Soujin: Yeah, I bet it's really cold standing out during the interment. Nofun.
Mum: Hell, if I were going to get buried in a month like this, I wouldn't let them. I'd make them cremate me. I mean, come on.

Which was where I just looked at her with an expression resembling O_o-what-did-you-just-say-now? I love my Mum.

That's so funny because on a day when it was four degrees and spitting snow my mom and I drove by some people digging a grave and I said I wanted to be cremated. Hehe. Days like that make you appreciate the thought of being burned.

It reminds me of a Dutch proverb: "Those who dislike cats will be carried to the cemetery in the rain." (Which explains why my favorite Lorrean Dutch mystery writer, Cornelius Leyden in "The Mask of Dimitrios," was so nice to those two Siamese cats of Grodek's.)

XD Great minds. But it's true; to-day it was one degree, and really, no one in his right mind would pass up a nice toasty cremation. ^_^

Smart people, the Dutch. *snuggles kitties*

Yes, you must. Next time we go to Boston I'll make her come along.
