Omg. Eheeeeeeee, I am so ridiculously amused and yes I have checked it out and omg. At the end. There's a "hard-boiled detective retelling" of the play. From Horatio's POV. Omg. I am smiling smiling smiling like an iiiiiidiot because omg.

This is too silly. Glee.

...I want hot cocoa and there is every possibility that I will actually have some when I get home. For the first time ever. Bwee.

...Also I checked out the soundtrack to Top Hat. Yay Fred Astaire. :D :D :D

Have you ever seen/heard of the TV show Remember WENN? (Very fun show, though cancelled before I'd ever heard of it - a friend of mine has it all on tape. *g*) Because there's an episode where they do a detective version of Hamlet - they don't show the whole thing (the show is about a radio station in the 1940's, and this is one of their programs), but they do have the Hamlet character (I think they called him "Sam Dane") confronting "Queenie," his mother. And, "To be, or not to be - that's some question."

And for extra Oedipusness (Oedipusity?), the "actress" who played Queenie was married to the "actor" who played Sam Dane. Oh, and there was an episode where the "actress" playing Ophelia (or whatever they renamed her) auditioned for Viola by dressing up like Peter Pan. And also, Mary Stout (Mrs. Fairfax from the Jane Eyre musical) played the organist. Only then she left for a while and was replaced by Carolee Carmello (lots of shows, and Lisa on the Anthony Warlow Jekyll and Hyde recording), but then she came back so they were both there. And Betty Buckley and Patti LuPone guest starred at some point. And the whole thing was written by the guy who wrote the Drood musical. And it was all crazy zany '40's fun. If that show is ever put out on DVD, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
