"That I Would be Good Even if I Lost Sanity..."
Excitingly enough, we were robbed last night.
At church to-day, Shirley took one look at me and started pulling at my shirt and saying, "Oh, you need to cover up your bra straps!". She kept poking my shirt and trying to make it modest. It's a soft white tank top that goes under a much prettier crinkly white long-sleeved blouse that's meant to be worn open. Maybe I shouldn't wear it any more! This is the second time someone's commented that it's revealing.
(the first time, it was one of the librarians. There was a boy who had removed his shirt in the library, and I went back to let her know, and I said, "There's a boy who isn't wearing a shirt--". She said, "Neither are you," and looked at me pointedly. As I said! I should probably stick to wearing it at home, seeing as it elicits such a response.)
In any case, they took the CD players out of the cars, Mama's digital camera, and my car keys; as far as we can tell, nothing else. I remain glad we're moving--I assume the Mennonite neighbours won't do this.
At church to-day, Rog gave me a colouring book of anatomy, a college-level colouring book! XD I love it. I need to write him a very pretty thank-you note. Eheehee.
(This song in my subject line, I need to upload it; it always makes me cry. It's very--meaningful. To me. Amy gave it to me; Amy has this way of knowing what will touch me.)

On the other topic, apparently bra straps can be highly distracting! I had a similar experience at work the other day, when I was wearing a shirt that isn't, I don't think, revealing at all:
4th-grade girl: "Even your thing is black!"
Me: "What 'thing'?"
Girl: *pulls out her bra strap* "Your thing. I can see the strap."
Me: "Oh."
Girl: "You should cover it like this." *pulls her shirt up around her neck* "But don't choke yourself!"
Me: "I'm... not really all that worried about you guys accidentally seeing my bra straps."
Girl: *pulls hers out again* "Mine is pink!"
Another girl: "Mine's purple!"
Another girl: "So is mine!"
Me: "We need to get back to reading, you guys!"
I mean, jeez. It's just a bra strap!

*dies giggling* Awwww, silly kids! I know, but that's usually my opinion, too. Plus I'm the kind of person who usually wears ankle-length skirts and long shirts anyway--although maybe that's the problem, that people perceive me as being more "modest" and are surprised when they see me dressed normally? Maybe I'm overthinking this. XD
Are you a librarian at a school?

And no, alas, I'm still just a teaching-assistant for now. I work in the "Reading Lab," which is where they send all the 3rd-6th graders whose reading skills are not up to par. Which is most of them, since the majority of kids in this area grew up speaking Spanish. It's fun, though. We read stories about sharks and spiders and dinosaurs. :D

Ohhh, that's so neat! That's really cool. ^________^

Maybe you just shouldn't wear it out to "formal" places like the library and church? I don't think it would cause controversy at any restaurants or anything!

Seems possible. ^^ Although the library is never what I've thought of as formal.

And someone in my head would like to second the request for pictures. ;)

You're all getting it, you ruffians.

...can you tell this sort of thing is a sore point for me?

XD I only wear them because I have too much in the chestal region not to.

(I am still bitter about being told I wouldn't be cold if I didn't dress like a slut when I was wearing a--*gasp*--fitted t-shirt. I love not living in Focusville anymore.)

(...Dude. That's crazy.)
