"There are Stars in the Heavens That I'll Never Hold..."

Have been insomniac all week--ended up taking a snow walk at three in the morning last night because after a SLEEPING PILL I was still wide awake, which is really kind of sad. Suspect sympathetic psychosomatic condition relating to [livejournal.com profile] mhari's being so exhausted this month. Intend to protest.

Pine for all of you. Plz call and relieve me of my utter isolated isolation. Spent to-day cleaning entire house and vacuuming as well as sponging out the refrigerator; did schoolwork; read a book; listened to six CDs. Am pathetic also bored but generally in a very good frame of mind and laughing a great deal.

Sledded all the way down the hill across the road and halfway up the next hill, yesterday. Practically a religious experience. Beautiful.

*pines back* I've been feeling isolated too, since I pretty much spend all my free time in my room these days, and I haven't got a roommate anymore. :-\

*clings!* It's terrible. You don't have a roommate? Why not?

Because I'm in a house with all single rooms. I've got four housemates, but they're all really busy too and so I never see them.

Really? Never? In Scotland? That's not fair.

[personal profile] ewein2412 2008-02-14 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
no, it absolutely ISN'T fair. We're on the same latitude as Kodiak ALASKA, for heaven's sake. Perth is in this weird little microclimate all by itself--sometimes it snows two hundred feet further up and it doesn't snow here. You can always see snow on the mountains from our house. But we only get one or two storms a year, never more than about four inches, and it's always gone by the next day.

The winters here are just awful--dark and chill and wet. They have a word for it--"dreich." (actually, "flist" is also a scottish word describing a mixture of fog and mist)

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that is--that is just nefarious, for heaven's sake. I'm outraged. My Lord.

(So I shouldn't mentioned we'd accumulated about two feet all told so far this year.)

no, you shouldn't, you mean thing. it makes me insanely jealous! (although of course, I knew that, since I talked to my grandmother yesterday.)

Sorry! I am evil and terrible. (That would just about do it. What county does she live in?)

our number one severe weather item is Wind. We get these massive 70 mph windstorms that cause landslides and stop all traffic.

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
See, sekritly, that is my very favourite kind of weather. >_>

[personal profile] ewein2412 2008-02-14 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
sekritly, I like the wind too. Although I feel bad liking it because it is so destructive. and I still wish it would snow.

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, yes. Snow would be nice. I wish I could send it to you in an envelope, I badly do.

[personal profile] ewein2412 2008-02-14 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
you sweetie! You would do it, too, I know. thank you!

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
♥! Once I sent somebody snow, but it was actually paper bits. Mama told me that was a very unfair thing to do, as the recipient still had no snow, and now also had to vacuum the floor.

I have been known to keep snowballs in the freezer for three years.

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I tried that once! It didn't work.
