"This is My Last Chance to Ease the Fire..."

Am watching a film about Hildegard von Bingen for history class--have to say, it seems to be mostly an excuse to show off how pretty her music was.

Fair enough, really. Wow.

Edit: Just got my religion reading from Dr. Prill. It is a 17-page pdf. Goddammit.*

*I am not charmed by reading text online.

Could you print it, maybe?

(I do not like reading text on the computer either. Stories, esp. fanfic, are easier than essays, due to some property that they have that I don't know about, but not much.)

Yes, but our school charges for printing. >_>

[identity profile] watchcry.livejournal.com 2010-03-21 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. ours does too. I have opted for biting the bullet and budgeting for that. Most people make fun of me for not owning my own printer. Meanies.

It wouldn't be as much of a problem if a) I weren't perpetually broke and b) half the printers weren't perpetually broken.

DDD: Eeeek. I hate trying to read pdfs. Good luck?

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2010-03-21 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I know right! They're always the wrong size for the screen and you have to do all kinds of crazy stuff to make them readable.

[identity profile] josiana.livejournal.com 2010-03-21 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously. D: It's so tiresome.

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2010-03-22 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Sigh. SIGH.

Oh, I very strongly dislike online readings for school. Fanfiction/online writing I'm cool with, but the stuff for school is hard to concentrate on... *not to mention I find PDF hard to navigate*

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2010-03-21 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
All of the above. I managed to read a few pages of it last night before my eyes started crossing, but I did at least finish it this morning!

I recommend Garmarna's Hildegard von Bingen album--the arrangements aren't traditional (they're kind of a folk rock group, although the von Bingen album is their least rock-y), but lovely, and Emma Härdelin has one of the most beautiful voices ever.

If you go to "Music" and scroll down, you can download 4 of the songs from that album:

(I'd check out the other albums, too--they're amazing in general.)

Also, Lingua Ignota! It's awesome. Hildegard really liked the letter 'z', apparently.

Oh, cool! Wow! That's really neat.

PDFs are fuckers.

omg tell me about it.
