Yes, that statement was intended to annoy, but that is one of the most exotic locations to visit on this planet. I hope you will not feel like some anthropologists there, especially when it is eccentric family members you are visiting, although i would think they are cool.
Also, have you ever read anything about or from the Icelandic Epic? My knowledge is limited, mainly to what I learned from Monty Python.

Also, it's not the Icelandic epic. :) It's the Sagas, and no, I'm supposed to have, but I've not yet read them. I had no idea Monty Python mentioned them!

Having teh Uncle who is Icelandic, of course, helps with pronunciation and that sort of thing. :) So I am at somewhat of an advantage.
