"Must make content with his fortunes fit..."

When I was shelving at the liberry to-day, I was in the New Fiction section and a woman came up to me, tapped me on the shoulder, and informed me that she was having a private conversation with a potential board member of some organisation and that I was to go away and shelve there later when she had finished.

I nearly cried. *wibbles* Am so pathetic.

But--I was just sort of shocked, because I am a teenage child hello! I am almost by definition self-absorbed! Did she imagine for one moment I even realised she was there? Actually, I was thinking about my lack of a love life and alternately plotting for a Phanfic.

*sighs lightly* But that's all one. I read children's books until she was gone and then I went and shelved the New Fiction.

Moreover, how were you to know it was a private conversation? And why was she in the New Fiction section? Maybe she was a spy and plotting to take over the library or something.

[identity profile] ezraslaststand.livejournal.com 2005-01-22 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Or steal information, rather.

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2005-01-22 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
That too. *heaps offences on her shoulders*

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2005-01-22 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
She probably was. Her only excuse for being in New Fiction was that it's an open shelf rather than one of the ones lined up in rows parallel to others, and the study tables are in front of it.

When our library gets infiltrated with evil weapon-toting creatures from another planet, I'll just sit in my room and sulk.

[identity profile] mhari.livejournal.com 2005-01-22 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Rude. >_< She should get a private damn room if she wants a private conversation.

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2005-01-22 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Well, in her defence, our library doesn't have private rooms. On the other hand, all it has are the study tables, which are for everyone's use, and she was kind of monopolising them.

So, you know, she could have arranged to meet him somewhere else, I suppose. But as long as she was there, she really had no way to get privacy besides sending me to the other side of the building.

*hugs* You're not pathetic - I have a hair-trigger weep button too. You wouldn't believe the ridiculous stuff I cry over. (or maybe you would, which is always comforting :)
erinpuff: (Crying)

[personal profile] erinpuff 2005-01-22 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Oh God, your icon kills me dead. *weeps uncontrollably*

...I have the crying thing too. :o

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2005-01-22 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
I knoww! Me too! ;_;

Oh, good. There's a whole clan of us out here.

[personal profile] erinpuff 2005-01-22 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. We should all make a commune together where it's all right to cry at ridiculous things. :-)

I cry at silly things (my friends still make fun of me for crying on the last day of middle school) and cry like omg whoa at actual sad things(I was the biggest wreck of all at my grandmother's funeral--and I was the one who didn't even like her. O_o)

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2005-01-22 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
No, we should. We can appreciate each other.

*nodnods* The same here, definitely. *snuggles*

[identity profile] cimmerianwillow.livejournal.com 2005-01-22 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
lolol Okay, turn off the psychic link!! *giggles*

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2005-01-22 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Nooo! We can't turn if off! *bursts into tears*

[identity profile] cimmerianwillow.livejournal.com 2005-01-22 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
*rushes to comfort*

*and giggles*

;)

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2005-01-23 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
^___^ Aww, thankees.

[identity profile] cimmerianwillow.livejournal.com 2005-01-22 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
:) We'll have to start ourselves a support group lol ;)

[identity profile] cimmerianwillow.livejournal.com 2005-01-22 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
*laughs* That's actually quite cute!

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2005-01-22 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, thanks. ^_^ Maybe I should do it.

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2005-01-22 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, good. *hugsback* I would believe it. ^__^ I mean, I cried when Waen got her ears pierced because I thought it must hurt. So--yes. It's nice to know I'm not alone.

[identity profile] weaselwoman13.livejournal.com 2005-01-22 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
A confidential conversation in an odd location? You should have stayed! Maybe you could find out where they were going to hide some ransom money in a plain, unmarked package!

So YOU WORK AT A LIBRARY?!! *dies* It's crazy, but there's a phenomenon among Peter Lorre fandom where like 99% of the fans are either some form of librarian or are related to one. (My mom's a librarian, and lots of people on the peterlorre yahoo group are, including the webmistress of www.plorre.com.) I suppose Peter is just good at attracting intelligent, literate, creative ladies with high standards. ;)

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2005-01-23 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
I should have! But I was so shocked, I believe, at getting told off. ^^

I DO! That's so bizarre. Heehee. But I definitely like the intelligent, literate, creative ladies with high standards line of reasoning. :)

[identity profile] sansenmage.livejournal.com 2005-01-22 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
It sounds like she has the insane logic which is prevalent in retail management.

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2005-01-23 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Really? Are they known for it?

[identity profile] kateorman.livejournal.com 2005-01-22 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
Quelle bullying cheapskate over-privileged bumhead. Next time, pop your gum and stare at her blankly until she goes away.

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2005-01-23 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
*wibbles* But that would be really impolite and I might offend her. And I am not-a liking conflict.

[identity profile] kateorman.livejournal.com 2005-01-23 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
*grin* I wasn't serious. Mind you, being a teenager™, you could probably get away with it!

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2005-01-23 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Except that I don't look like a teenager! O_O She'd be all, "What do you think you're doing, insolent hobbit?!"

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2005-01-24 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Ohohoho.

[identity profile] allyness.livejournal.com 2005-01-22 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
".. I am a teenage child hello! I am almost by definition self-absorbed! Did she imagine for one moment I even realised she was there? Actually, I was thinking about my lack of a love life ..."

That could've been me writing that! o.o! And I have the crying thing too!
-just wanted to let you know you're definetely not alone in those things-

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2005-01-23 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
*giggles* Really? There are so many of us with the crying thing, I swear; we do need a support group. I still like [livejournal.com profile] pindroptears. We'll see. :P

*hugs* Thank you.

[identity profile] tiamatschild.livejournal.com 2005-01-22 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh honey, I'm sorry. *snuggles* I probably would either have had trouble not crying or not decking her too. I don't take pointless rebukes well. Few people do.

But reading children's books is a good coping strategy. *pets*

[identity profile] rainbowjehan.livejournal.com 2005-01-23 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
*hugsback* Thank you. It's just the--shock, I guess, of not realising you were doing something wrong and then getting told off for it. I was so surprised, really.

It is. ^___^
