When I was shelving at the liberry to-day, I was in the New Fiction section and a woman came up to me, tapped me on the shoulder, and informed me that she was having a private conversation with a potential board member of some organisation and that I was to go away and shelve there later when she had finished.

I nearly cried. *wibbles* Am so pathetic.

But--I was just sort of shocked, because I am a teenage child hello! I am almost by definition self-absorbed! Did she imagine for one moment I even realised she was there? Actually, I was thinking about my lack of a love life and alternately plotting for a Phanfic.

*sighs lightly* But that's all one. I read children's books until she was gone and then I went and shelved the New Fiction.

Moreover, how were you to know it was a private conversation? And why was she in the New Fiction section? Maybe she was a spy and plotting to take over the library or something.

Or steal information, rather.

She probably was. Her only excuse for being in New Fiction was that it's an open shelf rather than one of the ones lined up in rows parallel to others, and the study tables are in front of it.

When our library gets infiltrated with evil weapon-toting creatures from another planet, I'll just sit in my room and sulk.

Rude. >_< She should get a private damn room if she wants a private conversation.

Well, in her defence, our library doesn't have private rooms. On the other hand, all it has are the study tables, which are for everyone's use, and she was kind of monopolising them.

So, you know, she could have arranged to meet him somewhere else, I suppose. But as long as she was there, she really had no way to get privacy besides sending me to the other side of the building.

*hugs* You're not pathetic - I have a hair-trigger weep button too. You wouldn't believe the ridiculous stuff I cry over. (or maybe you would, which is always comforting :)

Yep. We should all make a commune together where it's all right to cry at ridiculous things. :-)

I cry at silly things (my friends still make fun of me for crying on the last day of middle school) and cry like omg whoa at actual sad things(I was the biggest wreck of all at my grandmother's funeral--and I was the one who didn't even like her. O_o)

A confidential conversation in an odd location? You should have stayed! Maybe you could find out where they were going to hide some ransom money in a plain, unmarked package!

So YOU WORK AT A LIBRARY?!! *dies* It's crazy, but there's a phenomenon among Peter Lorre fandom where like 99% of the fans are either some form of librarian or are related to one. (My mom's a librarian, and lots of people on the peterlorre yahoo group are, including the webmistress of www.plorre.com.) I suppose Peter is just good at attracting intelligent, literate, creative ladies with high standards. ;)

I DO! That's so bizarre. Heehee. But I definitely like the intelligent, literate, creative ladies with high standards line of reasoning. :)

Oh honey, I'm sorry. *snuggles* I probably would either have had trouble not crying or not decking her too. I don't take pointless rebukes well. Few people do.

But reading children's books is a good coping strategy. *pets*

It is. ^___^
