"Then the World will See that You Were Meant for Me..."

Now I, personally, would not name a cat Raskolnikov.

Just a thing, yes? It would make me slightly nervous, for once thing. For another, well, I'd pick Andrei first. Perhaps Razumihin, although Razumihin is too much like Bossuet to suit a cat entirely.

But I certain wouldn't name a cute fluffy Persian kitten Raskolnikov. Heh.

Judging by google image search, however, the rest of the world does not the feel the same.

...Andrei's still better. Perhaps Dounia, if you truly wanted to. Or Lizaveta. Lizaveta might suit. Porfiry, even, just for a change. But Raskolnikov? Eh.

What I'd really, do, of course, is name the cat Kolya or Alyosha or Maximov or Liza, and scrap the whole dark schizophrenic crime drama altogether*.

*that may have been one of the stupidest things I've ever said, all things considered.

Waen's idea is best, though. Get the dog and name him Perezvon. Ici!

By the way, I still love Razumihin; but really, Kolya Krasotkin is the most splendid thing. I've dogeared more pages in this novel than any other I've read, I think.

OOH. I wanted to name my kitten "Prouvaire", but my brother didn't want to. So we named him "Pippin" instead. Note that it still begins with a P. ;p

Awww, oh, that works. And Pippin is a good name for a cat. ^___^

I had such a crush on Dmitri Razhumikhin. Of course, I sorta had a crush on Rodya, too, until he killed poor Lizavyeta. Sonya was my favourite, though, even over Razhumikhin.

I loved Sonya, but I was secretly terribly fond of Andrei, and I remember annoying everyone by defending Arkady.

Oh, Razumihin is definitely one of my favourite characters in literature!
And no, I wouldn't name my cat Raskolnikov either. I wouldn't want a pet whose name reminds me of something that disturbing.

I've been meaning to read The Brothers Karamazov for years now but I've never done it. Now, after this entry, I may even actually read it soon!

*that may have been one of the stupidest things I've ever said

No, no. That was actually quite... insightful.
And, BTW, I would now love to name my cat after one of Dostoevsky's characters. Too bad I (or you) didn't think about it ten years ago. I'm not so sure that my cat would like it if I changed her name now...

Yes! He's wonderful.
Exactly. ^_^ Heh.

You should! It's wonderful, it really is!

Well, no, because... Brother Karamazov is a dark crime drama, too. :D With even a little schizophrenia, too. ^_^

Yes! Well, you can always get another cat, right...? :D

Brother Karamazov is a dark crime drama, too. :D With even a little schizophrenia, too.

Sounds like a perfect book to be read in the dark winter night. :-)
One good thing about living in Finland is that I can sort of imagine what it was like to live in Russia - at least when it comes to weather...

And on the treadmill in the middle of summer, yes, certainly.
Oooooh. Oh, dear. *shivers*

Razumihin made that book for me. He was just so...not nearly as depressed or psychotic as everyone else. Nice change of pace, don't you know.

Incredibly. He was wonderful.

I would so name a cat Raskolnikov.

Absolutely! ^_^
