Now I, personally, would not name a cat Raskolnikov.
Just a thing, yes? It would make me slightly nervous, for once thing. For another, well, I'd pick Andrei first. Perhaps Razumihin, although Razumihin is too much like Bossuet to suit a cat entirely.
But I certain wouldn't name a cute fluffy Persian kitten Raskolnikov. Heh.
Judging by google image search, however, the rest of the world does not the feel the same.
...Andrei's still better. Perhaps Dounia, if you truly wanted to. Or Lizaveta. Lizaveta might suit. Porfiry, even, just for a change. But Raskolnikov? Eh.
What I'd really, do, of course, is name the cat Kolya or Alyosha or Maximov or Liza, and scrap the whole dark schizophrenic crime drama altogether*.
*that may have been one of the stupidest things I've ever said, all things considered.
Waen's idea is best, though. Get the dog and name him Perezvon. Ici!
By the way, I still love Razumihin; but really, Kolya Krasotkin is the most splendid thing. I've dogeared more pages in this novel than any other I've read, I think.
