I have a question. You know that weird feeling you get when you burn your tongue? Where it's sort of halfway between numb and raw? Okay. Mine has been like that since Friday. I went to Health and Wellness and they have no idea, and I read through all the side effects associated with Depakote and there's nothing like that there. But this morning when I woke up my tongue was completely coated with idk what, something thick and unbelievably gross looking. So I scraped it all off, at great personal risk, and then brushed my teeth, and there was a lot of that yellowy-reddy colour you tend to associate with blood? But I don't think it was blood.

Also, it's not just my tongue that's this way, it's my gums and the inside of my lips, too. DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THIS IS? ;_____; I want it to go away, and I have no idea what steps to take because I've never had anything like this before.

I don't think it's related to my being sick, because I've only had my fever since yesterday (it's down to 99.8 by the way! I'm so excited! I just want it to break soon so I can go back to HAVING A LIFE DEAR GOD). But it's driving me crazy.

The official diagnoses right now is thrush. I will be going to the wellness centre shortly to see if they agree.

Also, probably a good idea to get tested for strep just to be sure. Sometimes it manifests strangely in the mouth rather than the throat.

Yeah, when F. got strep his throat didn't hurt at all, which is why he had it for about a week before it hurt enough to go to the doctor (by then it was Sunday and the ER was the only option, so it was a really EXPENSIVE case of strep). But it doesn't sound like your mouth hurts, so thrush is more likely.

I ended up going to the ER, and they took bloodwork in addition to giving me medicine for thrush.
