Incidentally, my diet is dead. >_< Because Waen brought home a humongous box of coconut/caramel/pumpkin cake doughnuts, and I am a weak and pathetic person. Woe is me.
At any rate, we saw Twelfth Night to-day.
It was v.v. neat. I liked the music. ^_^ Even though it was nothing like the movie, and therefore did not sound Quite Right in my head. A good interpretation, however.
But they didn't put Fabian in! How can you do Twelfth Night and leave out Fabian?!
Also, one of the things I really noticed is that they changed Sir Andrew. The really big difference between the movie and this production is that in the movie, Andrew is a sympathetic idiot, and in this, he was a farcical idiot. It may be apparent which one I prefer. I mean, I wrote
this bloody fic. Andrew just feels better to me played as a sympathetic character.
Loved their Malvolio, though, and their Sebastien. Unfortunately, Antonio was downplayed to the point of almost not existing and having no name in the Dramatic Personae. Antonio is my favourite character. This did not go over well. They redeemed themselves, however, by making his role even more slashy than the one in the movie.
Actually, Viola/Cesario and Orsino actually kissed, which of course was, um, squee-inducing. Orsino kept hiding his face in his hands afterwards, and it was very sweet. Mum complained, though, that it was too unlikely. Nyeh.
What was really funny, though, was that they almost made Sir Toby the main focus. He was in more scenes than anyone else in the play, including Feste and Viola. It was actually kind of a neat thing.
They were all in Elizabethan dress, and the girl behind me kept going, "But those guys aren't wearing any pants!". But I did not laugh at her, even though I wanted to.
Also, I got the autograph of the bloke who played Malvolio/Antonio. Happy happy happy.
Sebastian/Antonio OTP 4evah!!11111111!!!!!!!!!111eleventyone!
Also, want to write Malvolio/Boy!Viola. No one supports me. V. disheartening.
