psalm_onethirtyone: (Thoughts [made by Waen])
A little poetry.

We stayed at the library late to-day, until it was dark outside and no one was coming in any longer except every once in a while, and we stood around with the librarian and I read Ogden Nash to her and Waen and they put together puzzles and it was wonderful. It was booksale week, too, and the booksale is in the library basement, and I bought a copy of Mrs. Dalloway, and a treasury of e. e. cummings, and a treasury of Shelley. I checked out The Phantom of the Opera, and another e. e. cummings treasury, and several volumes of Thurber, but the library has lost its big book of Ogden Nash, and they have no Yeats; I was a little disappointed. But they've just discarded their old Kingston Mysterious Island, and bought a new copy of the Jordan Stump translation, and someone has already checked it out! In a library as small as ours is, situated in a county as illiterate as ours is, it's very exciting to see it checked out.

And I shelved for over an hour, and read children's books; wandered around the several sections and really did enjoy myself. I love libraries. They're sort of secret places-- but, I think, only this one because I've worked here so long. I've noticed I don't feel this way about the one in East Shore, or the Juniata College one. It's not the same, somehow. Only our library makes me feel as though I'm in a special world.

And I've got Times movie reviews to read, and truffles to make for Mum's birthday; we're going away to-morrow to a bed & breakfast and then we'll go hiking. Da's awfully excited. ^^ And I have e. e. cummings to read, too. And Mum went to Ashcombe's and bought me a raisin cookie, which I was able to eat; and she bought me a shiny beige pillow shaped like a pumpkin, with a green bead leaf and stem, and it's so beautiful and I love it very much.

I ought to write more poetry.

And I have an acting class to-morrow, and I shall wear my black socks with the purple Japanese flowers on them, because they're beautiful socks and I don't wear them often enough. I shall wear my Rev but Civ shirt, too. I think to-morrow may be a good day, which would be nice, because it's been too dark and I've been crying too often lately. I shall hope for a good day. Besides, bed & breakfasts are always nice things, and this one is in an old farmhouse, and we'll be the only ones there. I'm excited, I truly am.

I have a pretzel roll which I may eat to-morrow, too. But my feet are cold.

I really ought to write more poetry.

Oooh, da' made a fire to-night and I only just noticed. ^^;;; It's nice, but it's going to scare me all night long. Remember last year, when I'd stay up 'till four to make sure the fire was properly out before I could go to bed without panicking? Yes, well, it's that time of year again.

Oh, well. It's very pretty to look at.
