Presently at the library. 'Tis quiet, but notably dark; I'm staying from 14:00 to 17:00, instead of 13:00 to 14:00, which is the usual. Waen is not here.

Booksale: Bought Good Omens (*hopes for approval*); Vanity Fair; Gulliver's Travels; A Sherlock Holmes collection; The Brothers Karamazov; someone else had bought the Herman Melville short story collection during the week, and the copy of The Mysterious Island is the Kingston translation and therefore "taboo". ^_~

Checked out: The Hessian, which has come at last! *dances* [livejournal.com profile] snowyofthenight will be proud of me. I'll begin it as soon as I've finished Phantom.

It's a little noisier here than I like, and there are more people; and of course I'm alone; but really, I like working at the library so much. <3 Should be all right until da' or Mum comes, at any rate.

We went to a Beethoven concert earlier to-day, but I had six hours of sleep last night, and it was so dark and so warm and the music was so nice... I fear I fell asleep. Alas.

At home, there is a fellow doing what-have-you with the computer so that it's not dial-up internet any longer. Of course, what this means is that we shall all be changing our e-mail addresses again. Am attempting to change my personal correspondence, if not livejournal comments and ff.n reviews, to G-mail, which I am for-ever grateful to [livejournal.com profile] lillieoz for providing me with. It's handy to have an e-mail program that works. ^^; Many thanks!

...And now I'd probably get back to the desk and try actually "working" for my last half hour. Alas, the procrastination... Alas. Even here.

First order of business: Memes!

From [livejournal.com profile] settiai:

Post a favorite line from a film here. Any film. Don't tell me what film it is. Then go tell someone else to do it, or pimp it in your LJ or something. It will be great--Charge of the Non Sequitur Brigade.

"He likes your lemonade."

And from [livejournal.com profile] snowyofthenight:

1. Name:
2. What makes you happy:
3. What have you been listening to lately:
4. Do you enjoy reading my LJ:
5. If so, why:

RECOMMEND
1. A movie:
2. A book:
3. A band, song or album:

PLUS
1. Tell me one thing you love about me.
2. Tell me two things you love about yourself.
3. Look through the comments, and when you see someone you know, tell them three things you love about them.
4. Do this in your journal so I can tell you what I love about you -- and if you've already done it, tell me so, so that I can go back and give you some love.

In other news, I'm now done with Phantom of the Opera. This post is going to abound with SPOILERS OMG!!!

Lo, observe! I do not know whether I can like Erik or not. Of course, I do pity him. I can't help but pity him, particularly in the last bit of the story when he's woe-ing to the Persian and so distraught and so pathetic--and he does his one redeemable thing in letting Raoul and Christine run off to where-ever they may be. I was glad that he did that, rather than any other selfish and/or narsty thing he could have done. And it did make me cry, when he was abusing all those ellipses and being so upset and woeful. But Lord, man! I am not liking thy killing of people.

Everybody hated you because you were ugly, but you didn't have to kill them. No, seriously. Quasimodo didn't kill them.

On the other hand, nifty special effects on your part.

On the other hand, icky torture chamber.

On the other hand, OMG THE PERSIAN <3 <3 <3!!! I like the Persian. Luffly. His hat. Hee. ^_^

On the other hand, wanted to thwap Moncharmin and Richard so badly all the way through. So badly.

Now that we have five or so hands, would like to point out that Christine is a pretty good character. I don't like her as much as Cosette, but I like her, truly.

And I love Raoul. I want to ruffle his hair v. muchly because he is crazy sweet and silly. Similar to Marius, but of course not, because I'm not sure why, but Marius was a little more charming. I think all in all Hugo managed his characters better than Leroux did; but if I stop making comparisons, I really do like Raoul and Christine very much.

And Mame Giry. Mame Giry is my wun twu love.

Of course, too, the Persian is my for-ever beloved character, because he's just yay. And Phillipe!

But I don't know how I am yet about Erik. Not quite.

Someday, I will write Persian/Raoul, and everyone will kill me. Then I will (posthumously) write Raoul/Erik, in a desperate bid for revenge. And everyone will kill me again.

Muahaha.

...I still haven't written the fic where Percy Blakeney saves Sidney Carton from the guillotine. Maybe some-day I'll be bored and take on that grandiose project.
