"They're Getting Ready for the Feast..."
Jul. 2nd, 2007 09:36 pmTo-day at work was exquisitely tiring.
Dept. of Health was there, so we all basically ran around hiding stuff and pretending to be an exemplary organisation, and yes I am cynical, and I was v. busy tearing down all the calenders that accidentally say March instead of June on them and putting up July ones, and making sure the ladies could see me watering the plants, and fixing the charting books &c. I did get in to see Anna, though, and we talked for a long time until I nearly fell asleep on her; and Charlie cornered one of the ladies and told her about me. She poked me later on.
Her: Your grandfather is very nice.
Me: ...What?
Her: Charles [hislastname].
Me: Oh! He's not my granddad! He's just my friend.
Her: Oh.
Me: ^_^ Yes.
Her: He thinks you're going to be a surgeon.
Me: Well, you know, hopefully. ^_^
Her: ...Oh.
Me: ^^
Her: Excuse me.
And I was lunch monkey to-day! Because everybody else was too busy. So Michelle gave me money and I drove into town and got lunch, and I got free lunch for myself out of it, which was really nice of Michelle. I don't know whether I should write a thank-you note or what, though. This is the second time in the last month somebody bought lunch for me on the spur of the moment, and I don't know how to express thanks properly besides just going ^__^ OMG that's so nice of you thank you! over and over.
Aaaand I got home at six or so (left the house at nine-thirty after spending way too long at the post office talking to the assistant postmistress) and there was no dinner left for me! ;____; So I had a peanut butter sandwich and some brunterta and crackers. Uncle Joi made us a tonne of brunterta, and it is almost all gone now.
The house still smells like harfiskur, proof that Uncle Joi, despite said brunterta, owes me bigtime. Urgh.
