*points at comment below* The utter abandonment of canon bothers me a little, but I don't absolutely hate it or anything. I've watched it twice, if that matters. And James Mason is extremely good. ^_^ He amuses me. I didn't assume he was British, however--I was thinking Polish. The men who attack him seem as though they're wearing British uniforms (albeit anachronistic ones), so I sort of assumed he wasn't. The real thing, though, is that Ned Land is such a wonderful character in the book--he's so serious and important and listless when he's kept from openness--and one doesn't have any of that in the movie.

On a far different note, OMGWTF there are other movies? *spazzes* Must get! Love interests! Heee! ^__^

...Er. Yes. Watching bad adaptations is one of my hobbies.
