It was in Taos, and I visited a shop and bought a pottery lizard, I think, and a pot for Waen, who collects pottery, and I said hello to the shopkeeper, and how beautiful a name I thought Taos was for such a beautiful place; and she rather leapt on me and starting telling me very angrily about that Taos was not really Taos: it was the home of the Red Willow People, and it was the damned Spanish who had called them the Taos, and so on. At the time I was quite terrified. 'Tually, I think I still would've been.
