Why can't I make the whole world good?
--Miss Zara, it's not very good, but 'tis poetical, and perhaps that's something?
Horatio is rosemary violets the ocean the standing stones dream laugh life dance--
Ophelia loves him because he is hearing, because he is listening, because he will understand, and
Gertrude loves him because he is promise, because he is smile, because he will be her son (for a while) because her son is dead--gone--dead--lost-- and
Laertes loves him because to be hot-blooded is to need something cool to touch to calm to quiet, and
Claudius loves him (doesn't really) because he cannot betray (a lie), is only honest (not true), never says what he sees (that's so), and
Horatio is in the centre is the centre is the one who is real and good and There and true and prayer and like a book with half its pages open to read and half closed shut and a third half (there's no such thing) ruffling in the wind--
Everyone can love Horatio, because
Horatio would love anyone, if only
Horatio did not love only
one
mad
man,
and--
Hamlet loves him because he is good and steady, (safe) and will never, never, never
go through the fingers when you take him by the hand
