I finished my eee copy of military!Denmark. ^___^
OhGOD. I was listening to the Crack!Hamlet musical while I was reading, and Eye for an Eye came on exactly at the moment I started reading the Laertes-Claudius scene. Coincidence much? Also, Vivre was playing during To Be or Not To Be, so I seem to have claimed that song for Horatio. Now I must find the translation again--all I remember is the 'to love until you die of love' part. So! In any event.
I like the idea of military!Denmark. Even if Miss Kylee does not see Horatio as a high-ranking officer. ^_^ Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were adorable collegians, wearing therefore nineteenth-century suits, the ones with the jackets that are cut very short in front and long in the back. Eeee. With big lapels. ^____^
Ophelia was reading the Rosemary for remembrance bit out of a book. I rather liked that. When she got to the violets, she kept flipping through the pages and couldn't find them, and then said the They withered all when my father died line.
...The Horatio/Hamlet was quite pronounced. Actually.
They cut the entire graveyard scene. The man who fixed the play up for performing said he always hated it, so he wasn't disappointed to have to cut it (they had a time restriction). Also, there were photographs. Beautiful black-and-white photographs. Horatio is holding a swooning Hamlet at the end. :D
Also, Hamlet dies in thethrone emo chair. And Horatio is bitter!Horatio. And Laertes makes his touch on Hamlet by waiting until his back is turned because he believes the match is over, which is somewhat unnerving to a former fencer.
...I liked it. I liked it very much. But I wanted the graveyard scene. ;_; This Hamlet and Horatio were rather wonderful. I really wanted the graveyard scene just to see how they'd do it.
All the Players were characterised. That was rather fun. ^__^
And now I stop the ramble. I am still ill, unfortunately, and feel as though I might be sick. Also am so cold I have given up on my dress and changed into my enormous flannel nightdress--the one I couldn't stop squeeing about last year. I really should photograph it. It's so beautiful. <3 Mum is wonderful.
