Thank you so much! I really like Jonathan, because he's really not--sensitive? A strong contrast to Benjamin, I think. He's definitely more of a jock. But a nice guy, too. Whereas David is kind of a drama queen, even though he has his reasons.
The whole thing about the spirit of God coming on Jonathan is just kind of shoved in there in the middle of a long narrative about David's armies fighting Saul, and it seemed like there must be more to it. Idk. Also, yeah, it sucks to be Jonathan. That, of course, was necessary for succession to the throne purposes I assume, but since Jonathan actually renounces his claim to the throne to David in the text--The Lord works in mysterious ways &c.
