We just found out that my uncle has prostate cancer, which is what both his father and my grandfather died of. The doctors think that because he is pretty young and they caught it pretty early he should be fine, but I know he is really nervous about it anyway. I would really like to solicit prayers and good-wishes for him, since he is basically the living incarnation of Good Guy Greg and truly wonderful person.

I finished my commission -- I was actually rather pleased, as it was ordered by someone who contacted the gallery that dropped my stuff because it wasn't selling, so for revenge I bored the director of the gallery by talking about pig breeds for half an hour when I handed it in.

I'll be back at school on Sunday, which I'm looking forward to. Real internet again! It's so exciting!

I'm still figuring out this DreamWidth thing. I will get it someday!

Hello! Belatedly letting you know I friended you, here an on LJ, you're welcome to friend back or not, no pressure. I wrote The Language of Birds, and in the process of researching it, became fascinated with your takes on Sir Sagramore, so that's a large part of why I'm here. I was also very entertained to note that we've both written stories called Knight of the Star, which is just an entertaining sort of coincidence.

Sorry, should have introduced myself more clearly!

I was just riffing off of the verses In Gawain and the Green Knight that deal with Gawain's shield.

Hm, well, let me know if you ever figure that out -- I liked the story, but hadn't expected to find Lancelot as the titular knight.'

I was very amused, though, at getting to write an Arthurian story for Yuletide for the person who had written the other top Google result for the title of the Arthurian story I had written the year before. Small world.

Heh. A fair point.

In any case, since we're after the fact now -- I'm very curious what lead you to request Sagramore/Lancelot. I had a lot of fun figuring out my own hows and whys to try to make the story work, but it still seems unlikely (okay, as much as sagramore/anyone is unlikely...) and I was wondering if there was anything in particular that lead to you picking that pairing.

Good to know. In any case, the story also got me interested in Sagramore -- generally Gawain & his brothers are my darlings, and Bruenor Le Noir, but the more I researched and thought about Sagramore, the better I got to like him. There aren't too many lusty epileptic Hungarian berserker knights at the Table, after all...

I saw the post you made about that (and tried to work it into the story). Just viscerally terrifying, even moreso than a lot of other medieval medicine.
