"I Won't Forget You, When I Die..."

Oooh, Scarlet Pimpernel was ever so awfully wonderful. *squees helplessly*
First off, should like to point out that the only thing bad about to-day was Waen, who complained about not wanting to see it the whole way there, and about how horrible the acting and singing was all the way back. But I shall disregard her.
Percy was delightful. He had a lovely voice, and was one of the people who was audible over the orchestra (the orchestra was dreadfully loud, and kept drowning out the singers. >_>). But yes. He was good. He was very expressive, and oh, God, his costume during Creation of Man was the most horrible colour combination I've ever seen. It even beats out the magenta and jungle green costumes from Show Boat. His only problems were that during a lot of his foppish, overdone moments, he went very abruptly American. He just seemed overwhelmingly American-person-trying-very-very-hard-to-be-British-and-failing. But he did do everything to perfect inanity, which I believe was the intent. Because book!Percy is so inane you want to slap him, and that's what this Percy was like. His only other problem was that he did these weird facial expressions during Prayer and She Was There. I think it was intended to be an Anguished Screwing Up of the Face. Anyway, it just looked weird.
Maguerite was perfect. I got her autograph, too. *cackles and clings to it protectively* I mean, you could hear her no matter what, she didn't overdo her actions, she had a beautiful voice, she was gorgeous. This woman was perfect. I told her she was better than Christine Andreas, and she said that was one of the greatest compliments she'd ever gotten. I think she was, though. Also, she had pretty costumes. Soujin likes the pretty costumes.
Chauvelin was... interesting. He was hyper-evil!DAHAHA!Chauvelin. He kept striking these Bad Dude poses, and his voice was always kept grating and harsh. His eyebrows were really dark, which added to the whole evil thing. He was just trying so hard to be diabolic, and it ended up seeming wrong, because all of Chauvelin's songs are so I-am-a-human-man-in-a-Situation. Chauvelin is not an evil underling. He is a person who is striving for a goal that to him is terribly important. That said. When he sang, he sang everything very fast, and he sang it in that harsh!EBIL!voice. Only once in a while he forgot to, and just sang, and it was beautiful. So I think he would've been pretty good if he'd have just stopped with with evil thing. >_<
Armand was not all that noticeable. He was just there. Also, he was floppy. It was like he was this puppy that everyone was pushing around. Also, he was balding, and we were in the balcony. He was cute, he was also just not very noticeable.
Marie was--where did Marie come from, anyway? She's not in the books, or any of the three movies I've seen, or my copy of the musical. Anyway, ditto her. She wasn't particularly noticeable. She had a nice costume, though.
The League of Extraordinary Fops were nice. They all had good voices, and horrible costumes, and I have Dewhurt's autograph, too. I told him he was the only Fop Person to be in the book, and he looked at me funny. I liked them all, though, particularly Elton and his butterfly net.
The Prince of Wales was hot! :) No, but he was cool. I liked him. He kept getting utterly drowned out by the music, though, which was not happy, as
missingclone would say.
And lastly, when they called forth the people who were to be executed (including, of course, Marguerite and Armand), they included the Duc de Berri and Andre Chenier! *squees* That was awesome.
I have the autographs, altogether, of Percy, Marguerite, Chauvelin, Dewhurst, and Elton. Go me.
Oh, I am so happy.

Date: 2004-05-03 01:59 pm (UTC)See, this was why Terrence was such a perfect Chauvelin. He wasn't concerned with doing teh overly-evehl Chauvelin, he was a very humane character. ::nods::
Glad you are happy! =)
