Waen has been complaining about drabbles. She says it is like getting half a pair of earrings.

Well.

Personally, I think she's sulking because of this, but really, I don't agree. I love drabbles. I think it's so neat how a person can get so much feeling into one hundred words. This is not to say that a) all drabbles are fantastic, or b) full-length epics or one-shots are bad. I <3 full-length fics like anything. But I think drabbles are great, too.

[livejournal.com profile] petronelle, for example, writes the nicest drabbles ever. They're absolutely incredible for the number of words that go into them--there's so much description and so much expressed. She had a Remus/Hermione, I believe, a month or so back that was just the neatest. damn. thing.

[livejournal.com profile] sansenmage, also, writes drabbles. They explode my head, but I love them none-the-less.

But [livejournal.com profile] mhari writes ficlets. And her ficlets make me die of squee, too, just as much as Petra's or Seneca's drabbles. It's a different sort of squee, that's all.

And [livejournal.com profile] gileonnen writes Jack/Norrington fics that are long and fabulous. [livejournal.com profile] birdmad_girl wrote the best crossover I've ever read, and it was epic-length.

What I'm attempting to say is, I don't think length matters at all, really. I think it has far much more to do with talent.

So Waen ought to be satisfied with my incredibly talented hundred-word gifts, dammit!

I am deeply flattered, dear heart. I only wish I could use words in my longer pieces the way I do in drabbles, but when I try I feel like I am overworking my prose violently.

Just a diamond solitaire, please, not a whole shiny necklace; then it starts to seem like cut glass even if it's real.

Thank you for the compliment!

Anyhow, so much can be expressed in one hundred words that it is incredible.

You're quite welcome! You deserve it.

It is true.

Thank you for that compliment, it has made my day. :) Because I'm aware that unfinished epic fics are teh suck, I have slowly been continuing. When I get to a point where I'm 100% sure I won't suddenly panic and realise I should have done something differently 10 chapters ago, I'll update.

^__^ I'm glad. I loved Colour of Despair so much; I remember when I was reading it I kept getting in trouble because I'd stay on longer than I should, glued to the computer screen, wanting to finish the chapter I was on. *g* Ah, nostalgia.

But you're continuing! *squees* That's exciting. Yaymuch!
