*dansez*
My people were fine. Jennie and Anna were glad to see me back, and so were Florence and Charlie. ^___^ I talked for half an hour with Ken. He says his prosthesis is working wonderfully: he went all the way down to Therapy and back on it this morning.
Alberta still hates me, but I expected nothing less. :D
Had an adventure with Al, though. He's still here; and I feel so guilty about cutting my hair now. I almost wish I hadn't. He liked it long. To-day he wanted an apple to eat, but he needed it sliced, so Linda sliced it for him, and--from there it went decidedly downhill.
Al: It's too big. The pieces are too big. Cut it smaller.
Soujin: Absolutely! ^___^ *sparkle*
Linda: All right, fine, get a knife and cut it.
Soujin: *cuts it into thumbnail-sized pieces, as per directions*
Al: *tastes* It needs salt.
Soujin: ...Salt?
Al: So that it doesn't get yellow.
Soujin: Oh! Well! You can use lemon juice!
Al: *shakes head* No. Salt.
Soujin: Well, okay. Nancy [the dietary nurse]?
Nancy: No. He's on a salt-restricted diet. No salt.
Soujin: ...Splendid. Okay. Many many apologies, but I can give you no salt.
Al: But I can't eat the goddamned apples without salt!
Soujin: They're really very good without salt. I like them that way. ^__^
Al: I can't eat 'em! When you put salt on them, they get chewy! I haven't got teeth! I need 'em chewy! Just put the goddamned salt on them!
Soujin: I'm awfully sorry, but salt + apples = match not made in heaven.
Al: Well, then, I won't eat them!
Soujin: That's okay. You don't have to.
Al: Just give me the salt! [insert gratuitous obscenities]!
Soujin: *tiffle but firm, la!* I really can't, Al.
Al: [louder obscenities]!
Linda: Oh, for fuck's sake. *goes and puts salt on his apples*
Al: *munches happily*
Soujin: ...Linda?
Linda: Take the man down to bingo, can't you?
Soujin: *exit wordlessly stage right, with Al in tow, still munching apples*
Yes. That was. Exciting. Linda still kills all my ethics.
At any rate, Agnes is back from the hospital, so yay! ^___^
There are loads of new people, including a married couple who are blind: I spoke to the wife and she was very sweet; a diabetic lady whom I helped get her lunch, which made me feel useful and yay; and a grandfather who said I looked just like his granddaughter, except I talked a lot more, which made me laugh.
I also had a long talk with Harvey, and this was quite wonderful, because I don't often; and I made Mots laugh; and a new lady named Gladys I think I entertained substantially. She was nice, too. She's Marcie's new roommate, and I'm very glad she's nice, because I awfully wanted Marcie to have a nice new roommate now that Miss Gloria has left.
Bertha is back, and she won bingo, and was very pleased. The blind lady, whose name is Katy, won blackout, and was equally pleased. Eleanor seemed happy to see me, and Gabriel has gone home. Dick was very sweet to me.
And there's a wonderful gentleman in Room One who I think I will like very much. He was very kind when I accidentally set off his alarm.
I love my work so very, very, very much.
