*dies*

The first day of school is cancelled--and, indeed, school is cancelled until Tuesday--on account of too many last-minute harvests to put up. We're doing corn again to-day, and Da's harvesting and roasting the over-dried tomatoes, and the peaches and raspberries simply will not stop! So we are to be quite busy instead.

The Granny Smith and Red Delicious apples will be ready soon, and Waen says the Asian pears are ripening. Of course we dug all the potatoes, but there are still some beans left to pick.

...And the corn is still going strong.

It's the rain. It wouldn't go so well without the rain. I feel rather distinctly guilty.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] erinpuff, how did you manage to fit so much music onto two CDs? Eeeewow. ^____^ Am going to play them now!

ZARA IN TWO WEEKS (almost). EEEEEEEEEEEE.

Is because they are mp3 CDs. May not play in a real CD player, just on your computer, but if you have a really new CD player it might. **hopes it works, somehow**

I hope you enjoy them! And I'm really glad you got them, as I'm always worried stuff will get lost in the mail.

*wibbles* They did not play on my computer CD player, but I shall try in the auto to-morrow, too, and see whether that does not work. The one in the auto is designed for mp3s.

What I was figuring you would do is copy them to your computer. :-\ And then you could make regular CDs from them if you wanted.

*worries, as really is quite dumb at computers and wants SO for you to have all this music!*

Well, it only shows up as one long track on the computer CD player. *peers* And plays, but with all fuzzy instead of music. So I though perhaps the computer couldn't decode the files enough to play music.

*is utterly dumb herself, no worries. :D but does want terribly to hear!*

Meep. O_o I don't know what I will do if you can't get it to work! I could try a different format, but what if that doesn't work either? WOE. Technology sucks sometimes.

Except that would take years and years (especially since you can't do zip files), which is why I mailed them to you!

I think I know what will hopefully work (to do them as data CDs instead of mp3 CDs). If you still can't get it to work in a couple days I will send them again like that.

...I am quite curious about how you can have things like school being cancelled or the schoolyear starting if you homeschool. Do you do it through an ISP? Is your mother/father/both of them just very strict about it? Do you actually literally sit down at the kitchen table and have an allotted time for each narrowly-chosen subject?

*blinks* I am--quite curious as to--oh, hang on, I think I see what you mean. ^__^

Well, we have to do one-hundred and eighty days of school, so we can begin whenever we like, really, we just have to get in those one-hundred and eighty days before summer. So usually we begin the first of September, but now with the harvest, we have to bring it in first, it's more important, so we do that instead of school. We can wait school for a little while. So that's that bit.

And we just decide what we want to study and tell Mum and Da', and set up a curriculum and schedule with them (this year we're doing, by choice, algebra two, geography, astronomy, Latin, ancient history, English lit, genetics, &c, as well as extra-curric and music/art, for which Waen's composing and my writing counts). Mum teaches maths, and sciences and Latin; Da' teaches history and literature; and we take lessons for the other things. Mum works, of course, so she writes down the assignments for us at the beginning of every week, and we do them.

It's actually much easier. We never have snow days, we work holidays sometimes, and we can count anything educational we do during the summer. My two weeks at Sewanee put me ahead fourteen days already.

There is no allotted time; we're supposed to spend as long as we need; but I prefer the dining room table to the kitchen. The light's better.
