Orsino, surprised, looked towards the voice, and smiled when he saw a small girl with yellow hair. “‘Tis a doll, little one,” he said. “A likeness of Dorothy, she who the cyclone carried to Oz.”

The girl laughed. “No it isn’t.”

“Nay, ‘tis! Dost not see her slippers of glitt’ring ruby?”

This time, the girl sighed. “I don’t know why everybody thinks they’re s’posed to be red. Only Quadlings wear red, you know, and the Wicked Witch of the East was a Munchkin.”

“Ay?” asked Orsino. “Yet did the fair Judy Garland wear red shoes, and so hath Dorothy been always pictured so.”

“I’ll have to tell Ozma ‘bout this,” said the girl. “Maybe this is part of the spell that keeps Oz hidden.”

It was Orsino’s turn to laugh. “I know not this ‘Ozma,’ nor this spell. What an imagination thou hast, child!”

Well, in that production, Valentine was played by Daniel Sunjata. Daniel Sunjata starred in Take Me Out as Darren Lemming, a gay baseball player. Mason Marzac, Darren Lemming's business manager (and also gay), was played by none other than Denis O'Hare, who won a Tony for the role.)
