Mmm, clean house. ^__^

Okay! So, in other rilly exciting news, Pennsylvania has a new state tourism slogan, and Lordy are we fussing about it.

The old slogan was 'State of independence'. The new slogan is 'I break for shoofly pie [sic]'. As far as some people are concerned, it makes them sic, all right! Allow me to quote an enraged citizen:

"Somehow--surely I can't explain how--a big wad of molasses and crumbs beat out 200-plus years of history".

Other suggestions included "Yo. Yinz lost?", which I, for one, find hilarious; but that's because I'm from Central PA; "My turnpike itches. Scratch it with your tires" (ewwwwwwwww :D); "I just ran over the second most popular groundhog in Pennsylvania" -- I think this is proof that everyone dislikes that thingy as much as I do, but it's still in bad taste; "come visit your Penn pal"; "Great Lake to cheese steak--that's a PA roadtrip!"; and "Declare your independence: Visit PA!".

The website, wwww.visitpa.com, says of the new slogan:

"Here at the Pennsylvania Tourism Office, we're in the business of encouraging people to take a break [hence why it is 'break', not 'brake']. We spelled it that way on purpose, because we want you to slow down, relax, check out the scenery, maybe even stop somewhere for a slice of a regional delicacy [oh, look, they just explained my brackets for me. oops. ^__^]".

I find this hilarious, too, but that's because--wow, so much meaning in five little words. XD

In other news, 'I break for shoofly pie' can't be worse than 'the keystone state' or 'virtue, liberty, independence'. It's Philadelphia's fault, obviously, but I can't say we win any prizes for originality--the new tourism slogan is probably the most original thing we've had in a while.

...Also, checking Pennsylvania's state stats? Harrisburg isn't even listed in 'biggest cities'. But Lancaster is. Oh, the shame. Excuse me while I fall off my chair laughing.

No, I don't have a lot of state pride. ^________^
