"And I Turned the Pages..."

To-day I filled in for Waen at her pottery class, since she's in Tennessee, and I threw clay on the wheel for the first time. It's such an odd feeling, sort of a oh-in-my-hands-is-this-thing-I've-made, and it was so small and fit perfectly in my hands, and even when it collapsed I couldn't let it go. I just kept thinking, oh, oh, look at this tiny little thing I've made, isn't that amazing?
On the way home Mum and I talked about having a baby. I said I thought I'd feel possessive, sort of oh, my goodness, this tiny beautiful little person is mine. Mum said what she mostly thought was, oh, my God, it's so tiny and I'm holding it, look at those tiny little fingers, didn't know anything could be that tiny, oh.
Besides the squished vase, I made a big fish tile, a butterfly, and a huge pile of little clay hearts.

Date: 2006-07-18 02:15 am (UTC)So the way I read things is that I look at it in big bits at once, and sometimes a sentence stands out and I miss the context and go BZUH? :o Then I read more carefully. ^^
Pottery is wonderful. I hate having mess on my hands, but I took a summer pottery class for several years and had lots of fun. It really is neat. :)

Date: 2006-07-18 03:17 am (UTC)Randomly, I saw Nicholas Farrell on television today. XD I think I am being haunted by Hamlets. (Which reminds me, this was on today. Look at the cast list. I didn't record it, though, sadly.)

Date: 2006-07-18 03:02 pm (UTC)Heeeeeeeee. Well, Hamlets sort of have a penchant for haunting, don't they? (...OMG BOTH OF THEM SQUEEEEEEEE. How was it?)
