"I'm Hungry to Hear from You..."

Well! Guess who failed parallel parking but got passed by her driving instructor anyway? I really don't know why--I failed. I didn't manage it correctly once in one hour. On the other hand, while I was driving us back to the AAA building, I chatted him up about Hamlet, because he loves Kenneth Branaugh.
So yay. :D I can drive now.
Mum says I can go to see Susan [her friend with leukemia], because she said that now that she's well enough for visitors she'd probably be happy for people to visit. I am making notes of ridiculous work anecdotes that would make her laugh.
(On Wednesday when I was in with Violet, we were talking about lunch, and I remembered what Marie said about trying to like my food, and thinking of it as an exciting and special thing, and therefore this dialogue occurred:
Violet: What did you have for lunch?
Soujin: *trying to remember what Marie said!* A ham and turkey sandwich. I mean, I like them both, so I got a little of both, and it was a really beautiful sandwich--
Violet: *reproachful stare*
Soujin: ...because I like ham an awful lot...?
Violet: I'm a vegetarian.
Soujin: *facepalm*
Violet: Because the way they slaughter animals is horrible and cruel.
Soujin: *face. palm*
Violet: Do you butcher the pigs you use for that ham?
Soujin: ...No. Just the chickens.
Violet: ...
The best part is that after telling this anecdote at dinner, Daddy's comment was, "Well! You've sure accomplished a lot in a short period of time!" He needs the hearing aid. I think it's time for Mum to put her foot down.)
Lillie, one of my ladies (Jewishlady with scary!son, for what it's worth) is getting a puppy, and she wondered if you could make her a list of pretty gender-neutral Hebrew names for pets. She wants a list of pretty gender-neutral Shakespeare names from me. XD
Other dialogues from to-day include but are hardly limited to:
Mum: Soujin, conjugate 'amare'.
Soujin: *obeys*
Mum: Conjugate 'monere' in the perfect tense and include the imperative case.
Soujin: *likewise*
Mum: Porta. Manga porta. Decline with vocative.
Soujin: *o, the huge manatee*
Waen: HA HA! Las stupidas!
Soujin: @$-in' Spanish student. >_>
Phone: *RING!*
Soujin: Bonjour.
Phone: Hello, we would like you to take part in a poll regarding the upcoming PA general elections--
Soujin: Je ne comprends pas, je suis desole. *click*
Daddy: What was that?
Soujin: It was a phone poll, but unfortunately I don't speak English.
Daddy: What was it about?
Soujin: General elections.
Daddy: HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME? I WANTED TO TAKE PART IN ONE OF THOSE POLLS. I KEEP READING ABOUT THEM. I'VE BEEN DYING FOR ONE OF THOSE POLL PEOPLE TO CALL ME--
Soujin: O_O ;_________________;
Waen and Mum: XD XD XD
Daddy: ;_______________;
Soujin: I DON'T SPEAK ENGLISH!
Mum: You know, you really can't drive.
Soujin: Those people behind me are shouting at me! ;______;
Mum: It's because you're going the speed limit.
Soujin: ...What?
Mum: Nobody drives the speed limit on this road. I mean, God, you're only five miles above it. What the hell.
Soujin: akfjsldkj I AM DRIVING THE SPEED LIMIT.
People in Car: *are totally giving me the finger*
Soujin: ;_________;
People: *start passing Soujin*
Soujin: ...Are there kids in that car? That looks like a kid in the back.
Mum: XD
People: *shouting while passing Soujin*
Person in Back: *leaning through window shouting*
Soujin: Oh, it's a grown-up. Never mind. WELL, YOUR MOM, LADY.
Mum: XD Oh, sweetie.
ETA: Oooh, look, I'm neurotic. XD I knew that! Actually, no, this is remarkably accurate. So are all the little thingies, but does anyone actually care about those? NO.

Date: 2006-09-08 02:49 am (UTC)Names, names... well, my favorite Hebrew word is "glida." It means "ice cream." :D Sounds very girly, though. Then there's "ooga," (or however it's transliterated), which means "cake," and "oogiyot" is the plural and means "cookies" (I may be confused somewhere), and "Oogie" could be a cute name for a pet... um. Most real Hebrew names are gender-specific, I think. Or there are different versions of the same name for males and females, like Aviv and Aviva (...actually, "Aviv" is apparently gender-neutral after all. It means "spring." But girls usually use "Aviva"). There's a bunch of names here...?
I go the speed limit! :D Or 5 miles over, usually, because that's what my parents told me to do. But no more than that. And I don't understand it either. And also, you rock.

Date: 2006-09-08 02:54 am (UTC)Ooooh. I'll write things down for her. <333333 Thank you.
Ooooooooh, you wicked wicked woman. XD

Date: 2006-09-08 03:57 am (UTC)(Aaaaaah. So you have to take two tests?)
You're welcome! Even if I fail at Hebrew. *g* And oo, I don't know if it's used as name, but there's "neis" (or maybe "ness?" That's how Motel pronounces it in the Hebrew Fiddler on the Roof, but elsewhere I've always heard it as "neis." "Nayce." Whatever), which means "miracle."
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAha...?
