Lady at Work: You're Episcopalian, right?
Soujin: ^__^ That's right!
Lady: Well, my daughter--we're Catholic--my daughter is converting to Episcopalianism. I'm really worried.
Soujin: Oh, no, ma'am, it's a really nice branch.
Lady: Are you sure? I know you don't have confession--
Soujin: Well, not to a priest, but when I say my daily devotions every night I confess to God.
Lady: Really? And you don't sing in Latin.
Soujin: No, but we have really nice hymns. We're a really accepting branch. I think your daughter will be happy.
Lady: You still baptise the children, right?
Soujin: Of course! ^_^
Lady: What about babies? Do you eat babies?
Soujin: Only during Pentecost!
...well, no, not the last bit. But really. ^^ We're actually closer to Catholicism than anybody else, I think, but she was really, really scared that her daughter was in effect leaving the church by becoming Episcopalian.
Soujin: And we do our sacrifices in the backyard of the church, never on the altar, because that's a fire hazard--

Date: 2007-04-07 02:10 am (UTC)You must have scared the poor lady... :) Aw, but I'm sure what you actually said would have calmed her down considerably.

Date: 2007-04-07 02:13 am (UTC)...I hope it helped. I was all, you know, we're really not scary at all...!

Date: 2007-04-07 03:18 am (UTC)Yes, that approach would help! I hope her daughter is happy and spiritually satisfied with her change in denomination.

Date: 2007-04-07 03:41 am (UTC)I hope so, too. We are a really accepting branch, so hopefully she won't have trouble fitting in.

Date: 2007-04-07 04:41 am (UTC)Well, it's probably reassuring for her mother that it's only a change in denomination, not religeon. Then it can be really sad. *misses Dave*

Date: 2007-04-07 04:44 am (UTC)That's definitely true. Although a change in religion needn't estrange people--

Date: 2007-04-07 05:04 am (UTC)no, not at all. My best friend is Jewish, and she rocks more than anything. I miss Dave because I only got to see him at church and now I don't anymore. He was such a kind, gentle person.

Date: 2007-04-07 05:21 am (UTC)Thanks... Dave was the leader of our church band and our student intern. He decided he wanted to try out Buddhism. I don't think it would have happened if it wasn't for a huge mismanagment on the part of the staff and our pastor... *reads over comment* Hmmm, I think I'll stop being whiny now... *blushes*

Date: 2007-04-08 01:27 am (UTC)Ohhh, wow. And augh, when that happens, that's really awful. We had people leaving our church during Discernment, and it was sad. *fluffs* It's understandable, and not whiny at all!

Date: 2007-04-08 01:36 am (UTC)Pray tell, what is Discernment? I'm ignorant.

Date: 2007-04-09 01:37 am (UTC)aren't! It's getting a new priest.

Date: 2007-04-09 01:43 am (UTC)Oh... That can be sad. Is your new priest good?

Date: 2007-04-10 02:11 am (UTC)She is, actually. She's incredible. She's the one who made me realise that I was interested in Christianity, and helped me to discover its importance to me and confirmed me and everything.
