Got my Yuletide assignment yesterday. It's pretty cool and I think there is a lot of potential in it, and I think I also can do a good job with it -- certain elements of it weird me out, but the prompter gave me a lot to work with so I think I leave some things out while still giving them what they want. So I am excited!

I go home to-day for Thanksgiving, so I'll be scarce for the next week.

A presenter in my cog psych class used this page about art by autistic people in his presentation, and I thought that was pretty neat, so here is the link. It is pretty cool from both an art and a mental shenanigans standpoint. (I also ended up talking about the gender issues surrounding autism with the professor after class, which was pretty neat -- she agreed with [livejournal.com profile] mhari and said that autism is generally viewed as a "boy's disorder" and not something girls are supposed to get.)

Octopodes can go on land and that is totally awesome. Plus also super cute.

Although we already knew that, Ann Coulter is a maniac and I don't understaaaand, Jesus. I don't want to live on this planet any more? Liz said I should move to Canada, but I feel it is my duty to model sane Christianity for people in America.

I am currently using this programme to try and manage my issues with computer light = migraines; I've only had it downloaded for a day, so I haven't got a real clear idea of how well it works yet, but it's an interesting idea.

This tumblr exists and it is pretty pro -- Ugly Renaissance Babies.

A really interesting essay/article on why "born this way" is a bad argument for queerness.

This guy is my hero -- a devout Muslim whose faith led him to try to save the man who shot him. I heard an interview with him on NPR on Sunday -- he was really incredible. Warning: Article contains pictures of headshot.

For your webcomic organising needs, piperka is a great site for tracking updates and keeping stuff neat.

Finally, when you have just delivered a good Caruso zinger, the instant CSI. Yeahhhhh!

Oh, Mr. President. You are really too much. <33

Watched X2 with [livejournal.com profile] the_chloroplast to-night, with more than moderate amusement (in fact I think we may have laughed a little too much; at one point Dani and Shawn stormed in to see what was the matter). To-morrow we're going to walk around downtown, to the thrift store and the grocery and maybe get a pair of cacti (I am hoping that I will be less likely to kill a cactus, on the grounds that it doesn't have to be watered daily. I killed my willow within three weeks of bringing it home).

Mama and Maria brought home the Quaker yesterday. He's our new horse to replace Lily; he's a draft and a driving horse, not broken to riding, so Maria's doing that right now.

I'm doing okay. I laugh a lot and I like it that way. Dr. Hamlett said he never realised I had a sense of humour (I made him laugh: he laughs in little ksnorks, and it is so damn funny). I usually eat with other people and usually have a good time. I'm doing a lot better with not being anti-social and avoidant. I also haven't properly cried since I got here. God, these meds work when I take them. I need to make that a mantra.

Also, I may kill myself anyway before the semester is out, judging by O.Chem. But, you know, it's better to die because of O.Chem than to run my bike into a semi because I'm fat. So I think this is definitely an improvement.

Need to stop developing crushes (but he plays such a beautiful harmonica) (but his scars look so fresh) (but she laughs so gorgeous) (but she's so confident and sexy) (but I love him) (but I love her).

Also, I love [livejournal.com profile] mhari with my whole heart.

omg inauguration. I was-awfully charmed, especially when he stumbled over the swearing-in bit. I was also really extremely pleased that he acknowledged the existence of other religions besides Christianity. Classy move, sir! As was his refusal basically to go "look! I'm black! I'm a shiny!" which was what every single other person who spoke pretty much did. I mean. That is important, it is very important, but people talk about it a) as if it means 'yays racism is ded yays!' or b) like it supersedes all other reasons for electing him. I'm sure "yay! we elected an African American! another minority to tick off our scorecard!" was not really what they were trying to convey, but it's definitely what it sounds like. Whereas I don't think Mr. Obama mentioned the fact at all. I thought his speech was well-considered and not antagonistic and basically just--I was pleased. I was really pleased.

Also his kids are adorable.

In other news, very tired, very busy, very quite going mad, see doctor to-morrow, dyed my hair black again, have far too much to do, &c.

Also changed layout. >_> Because squids are so pritty! And I love them excessively.

For Bio Seminar I am working on a brief essay about why I am a bio/pre-med major, which if I'm satisfied enough with it I might repost it here, mostly for the sake of preserving it somewhere, also because thus far it's in essence paragraphed poetry. To-morrow I have Religion, which so far I am very enthusiastic about; Death and Dying, which Sweet God It Is Awesome and there may be long boring introspective posts regarding; O.Chem, which makes me tiffle.

So only three classes. So to-morrow I can start breathing again (fancy!). And I swear I will be on proper then, to those of you who are waiting so patiently while I fail at basic conversation/rp/misc. responsibilities. ilu.
