psalm_onethirtyone: (We've Got Magic to Do)
Well, my brain, I think, is turning into cottage cheese--o, is it!--but on the Plus Side I can bicycle. I do the mile or some loop on Oriental/Leninger's Church/Snapper every day. It is so nice in this weather, because you positively fly along on the road, and the sun's so warm, and the curve of Lenginger's Church goes through the park, so that you cross two bridges over the Mahantango and see all the fishermen out. It's nice.

The artichokes, peppers, tomatoes, and basil are all sprouting. It makes Maria so happy.

Mama said for a going-to-college present, when I turn eighteen, they will get me an Amish bicycle. Oh, it'll be so fine. The Amish work is so nice and very hardy, because of course it's a main form of transportation--all the children bicycle everywhere. And I can get around pretty well at college that way. So it's perfect. I'm very excited. My very own! Mine is pretty well broken up right now. Maria and I went down to the Oriental store for butter the other day, and I was teasing her about how much faster I was going, and the clerk said,--

"You'd better be careful, or she's going to sabotage your bike."

"If I did that," said Maria, "it would improve it."
