...Someone totalled our car.

We were driving to the opera and got as far as Harrisburg, and the car stalled at a light, so just as Daddy was starting it again a Dodge Ram hit us from behind at high speed. It--the back is destroyed. The crowning glory, however, was this:

Soujin: Ahhghh, the lights aren't working!
Man in Truck: Oh, yeah? Show me.
Soujin: *gets the lights working*
Man in Truck: See? They're working. That one and that one and that one and--okay, that one isn't working, but--
Soujin: The blinkers don't work.
Man in Truck: Whatever, honey. I'm a mechanic. This looks fine.
Soujin: ...Fine? You totalled our car.
Man in Truck: Oh, and YOU KNOW WHAT? YOU SAID YOUR MOM AND SISTER HAD WHIPLASH? LOOK AT THEM MOVING THEIR NECKS AROUND! IF THEY HAD WHIPLASH THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO DO THAT. I GOT THREE WITNESSES.
Soujin: ...

...

...You know what? We're not having this conversation.
Man in Truck: *walks off*

So. It's--pretty bad. The light that wasn't working actually fell off, and the trunk won't close because it's all bent out of shape. We're taking it into the dealership. Mum and Waen both say they're hurting in the back and neck (I feel like I'm going to throw up, but I think that's more from shock than anything else). The girl who was actually driving the truck apologised a lot and was really genuinely upset and explained that it was her boyfriend's truck--except it turned out the man in the truck who yelled at me wasn't actually her boyfriend; just a random passenger. So we called the insurance company, and the car was okay enough that we could drive it home.

There are little patches of metal missing from the back. They were hanging from the teeth of the truck's grille. It is painful to look at.

Waen's still having hysterics, and Mum is going to lie down (she's supposed to leave for Kentucky for a week to-day). And I am going to go back to bed. This day should definitely not have happened. Luckily, everybody is alive and unhurt. We'll still have to see about the car.

That is good.

(that just sounds scary and awful. ;__________;) I know. But mostly we're not. We had to start out immediately for the airport after we took the car to the dealership, since it's so far away, so we've been away from home since three. We just got back a moment ago.

And insurance ought to cover it-- so that will help somewhat. And you have have other vehicles-- at least one, maybe two?

(...yes.) Well, tomorrow, then.

So you are not left without something that drives.

... Not mutually exclusive, you know. And you could call of work if you wanted.

Mom: I saw a movie you might like.
Me: ...Yeah?
Mom: It reminded me of you! :D
Me: What was it called?
Mom: ...Little Miss Sunshine.
Me: ...
Both: *start laughing*

No, no. That is not the problem.

Yes, yes, they are. And I cannot call off work. Shpff.

... *giggles* Did she like it? I heard it was good.

That was our problem, at the time. If you have to, you will be fine without the hybrid.

You can, because you are not actually an employee.

...She did. XD She liked it a lot.

I know. I know. It's just--it was such a beautiful car, and it got fifty-five miles to the gallon--!

Nope. I'm a guilt-ridden ex-employee. Oh, I'm going.

Oh, good. ^__^

Well, it's not actually totalled, so there is hope for it yet--

Doesn't mean you can't hope for the best.

I don't want to hope for the best! I want to wallow in self-pity!

XD I noticed. But everyone's safe, you are mobile, and you will figure out the rest eventually. No need to worry.
