Good Things:

*[livejournal.com profile] mhari is coming in three weeks. That is probably the very best thing of them all.
*the Farm Show is on Wednesday.
*the new house is absolutely wonderful and I love my room and I love sleeping in it and ohmygod it's purple. It's a religious experience of purple. I'm so happy.
*Tim said although I could pass as Inara if I really tried, I was impossibly a Kaylee and it would always end up showing through. I think that's the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me. ^_^
*I love my scarf.
*I'm almost done writing thank-you notes and things.
*the local newspaper is great.
*I can look out my window and SEE SHEEP. Lambs, specifically. Glee.
*I haven't had nightmares for a week (I usually have them every night).
*I thought I was going to have a panic attacks a couple of times this week, but I managed not to by staying very calm and taking deep breaths and reminding myself that I didn't want to disappoint my manager.
*quite a few people at work actually like me.
*[livejournal.com profile] mhari IS COMING IN THREE WEEKS.

Bad Things:
*I have to work to-day. XD
*I have no idea when we will have the internet again. Wednesday at the earliest, but possibly not even that soon. It is rather aggravating to have to drive half an hour every time I want to check my e-mail (also highly energy inefficient, which means that I can only do it on my way to work, so as not to waste gas).
*Tim's driving advice.

I'm expecting some sheep pictures, miss.

Also, I saw something at the store yesterday that absolutely screamed 'Soujin!', and then I realized I'd never sent you anything for Christmas, and then I realized that...you'd moved. So the address I have for you is probably no longer correct. And I wondered if, perhaps, you would be interested in remedying that situation (in an email, or something, of course). :o

*the Farm Show is on Wednesday.

ahhhh I am SO JEALOUS!!!! I love the Farm Show. My senior year I skipped school one day so I could go to the farm show. I have not been since 1995.

Given that it's 70-ish in Virginia, it surprises me not at all that it's balmy in PA.

that's right, it always snows for the farm show! (it is even snowing here.) just like it always rains for the Kipona!

If you google "farm show," even just the two words without quotation marks, the second entry you get is the farm show web site. There is a live Duck Slide web cam.

We used to skip school every year when we were still in so that we could go. Now that we're homeschooled we just count it as a day of school; it's educational, right? Right.

Shall I take photographs for you?

Well, we get no GED and no equivalent. Basically we just have a certificate from the evaluator saying "oh by the way Soujin completed twelfth grade".

Well, take it from me, you can totally get by without a diploma or GED, unless you want to join the Air Force (I'm pretty sure it's just the Air Force that requires a diploma), especially since you're going to college soon.

But you should totally have a celebration of some sort.

That's what Juniata said! They just needed the certificate, but there's no problem with me getting into college.

I know, that would be nice. XD I don't know whether it's possible.

I went to The Circle School, which is a small private school in Harrisburg (it is near what used to be called the East Mall, I don't think it is anymore, but I don't know what it's called now), and it's all self-directed and and there are no requirements whatsoever. I don't know of anyone who has a diploma. When I was 16 and thinking of Bryn Mawr, I talked with their Dean of Admissions to see what they thought of the fact that I would have neither grades nor diploma, and they said if that if I did well on the SATs and SAT 2s, and wrote good essays and gave good interviews, they didn't care if I didn't go to high school at all. I was also 16 when Dickinson started courting me to matriculate, but that was slightly different as I was the star of their Latin and Greek classes. I wound up going to St. John's in Maryland, and all they asked me for was a list of the books I'd read in the past few years. I didn't look at going to HACC or Penn State as a full time student (I took pottery and glass blowing at HACC after graduation from college), but my understanding is they are slightly more picky. And I had a friend who wanted to go to the Culinary Institute of America, and since they panicked a little at his complete lack of grades, and so he had to get a GEDC before they would accept him. I think smaller schools tend to be more understanding than big ones. And then once you have a Bachelor's, no one cares whether or not you have a diploma.

I feel like I have minorly hijacked your comments to go on about education, and I apologize. But rest assured, you are absolutely fine without a diploma.

And enjoy the animals and farm equipment!
