Just a small post with a couple of shinies. A few days ago Maria and I went to an organic sheep farm, which was very exciting, especially as it was the most beautiful place in approximately the world. Especially as it contained an actual lock, from an actual canal. The lock is defunct now, but the stone walls are still there and the husband set up a fountain in the pool that emanates therefrom.

And the sheep graze in the old cemetery.

I plan to get into the will of these people if at all possible. :D It is incredible. At any rate, Maria had camera in hand the whole time, so here are a couple of photographs from it!

Here's the lock! How super is that, anyway? Really, really super, is the answer. ^____^

The fountain! All gravity. No electricity. :D

Ain't they beauties?

The wife's obese border collie and I herded the sheep back to the barn together. We did this by flailing a lot (me) and barking a lot (her) and chasing the sheep all over kingdom come.

This is officially the biggest organic sparrow-grass field in the entire world.

GRATUITOUS CHICK PICTURE. Actually, chicks at the top, poults at the bottom. The poults are completely idiots and didn't even figure out how to drink water until this evening, but they are winning and sweet and gawky and awesome. The chicks are smart and fuzzballs and like to step on each other's heads.

Central Pennsylvania! This is fairly typical of its rural areas, actually.

!!!

I used to live in Eastern Penn! I lived in York, then the Hummelstown/Middletown/Harrisburg/Hershey area, then Philly!

Whoa, really? Oh my goodness. We live up near Selinsgrove, sort of between Selinsgrove and Newport. Juniata/Snyder!

Shoot! I don't know where that is. I'll have to ask my stepmother -- she was born and raised in the York area.

The lock is amazing, and the sheep grazing the cemetery is fantastic, and the chicks (and poults) are adorable. Bedi approves.

That's so lovely and idyllic. It looks like it belongs in some kind of obscure art film. ^_^

And the little chicks. ;__; So much cute.

I know! It was absolutely perfect. And the house itself was ancient and sprawling and stone.

:D We're going to eat them when they grow up.
