Date: 2005-08-23 09:35 pm (UTC)Yay!
They both have such pinched faces, such bitter looks. The woman in the bakery stares at the dressmaker, a dressmaker who wears ugly black and has never bloomed. The woman in the bakery wears dirty grey and has never been able to flower. They are two of the same kind of woman, and they see it in the way that neither of them smile. The dressmaker gives her coins like a hasty, awkward gift, and the woman in the bakery hands over the loaf of bread like an offering.

Date: 2005-08-23 09:39 pm (UTC)Cosette/Mickle. "three"
(no subject)
Date: 2005-08-23 09:43 pm (UTC)Three o'clock in the afternoon. Cosette hurries home from the linen shop, and accidentally bumps into a woman on the street. "I beg your pardon!" The woman gives her the most wonderful, innocent, laughing, particular, wonderful grin in the world. "Don't worry about it. Worse things have happened." Innocent, but Cosette knows she means those last words.

Justin/Florian "tempt"
(no subject)
Date: 2005-08-23 09:52 pm (UTC)^______^
Oh, my God. Not that one. Anything but that one. Ahhhhhhhhhh.
"You betrayted me!" Justin shouts, beautiful in his rage. Florian watches quietly. "You lied to me! You--" "No. Never that," he cuts in suddenly, softly. "I have never lied to you." There is silence. "I won't pretend I haven't wished I could, sometimes. It's tempting. But I have never lied to you." Justin ends up in his arms, sobbing as though his devil's (angel's) (boy's) heart will break.

Date: 2005-08-23 09:54 pm (UTC)Okay, THAT one was mean. I'm sorry. D= But ohhh, you make everything so pretty!
Fantine/Rina ""voyage"
(no subject)
Date: 2005-08-23 09:57 pm (UTC)Yes, it was, and no, I didn't, not that time. *prodsit*
Fantine stares hungrily at the pretty little foriegn girl with the beautiful golden hair. Once upon a time... "How was the voyage?" somebody asks the girl. "Oh, I love the sea," she answers, laughing. Fantine stares and wishes. Once upon a time...

Date: 2005-08-23 10:01 pm (UTC)Did toooo. And this one tooooooo! Ahhhh!
Witz/Raoul. "peacefully"
(no subject)
Date: 2005-08-23 10:07 pm (UTC)Ahh, nooooooo.
Soldier and sailor, but when everything goes peacefully, neither of them are needed. King Augustine grants Witz a leave to see his family in France, and Raoul kicks around the docks boredly, wishing his brother were not so protective. When they meet, they talk of training rather than fighting, and then of each other rather than the sweethearts one might leave behind.
...That one was definitely bad. XD

Harbert/Florian "promise"
(no subject)
Date: 2005-08-23 10:13 pm (UTC)Augh.
"You're a clever boy. What are you doing?"
"Sketching the verbena," Harbert told him. "Mister Spilett wants me to teach him about plants, so I'm trying to remember all the ones I see here."
The man smiled, a funny, wry kind of smile. "And you teach your elders. Promise me you won't change in that respect."
"No, sir," said Harbert, his fingers grey with the dust from his pencil.

Date: 2005-08-23 10:15 pm (UTC)...sorry? XD But ahhhh so cuuuteee. I could just repeat the same not-evil pairings, but..
Erik/Tholomyes (okay, that one's evil) "beautiful"
(no subject)
Date: 2005-08-23 10:19 pm (UTC)^_^ That would be so benevo--JESUS.
He's old now, and decidedly not beautiful, but he's still charming. In fact, he could charm the mask off an opera ghost.

Date: 2005-08-23 10:20 pm (UTC)Lise/Zara again. XD "soft"
(no subject)
Date: 2005-08-23 10:27 pm (UTC)The sharp woman in black is back again, for bread again this time. She always buys bread. She buys it hard, and a day old, so that it doesn't cost as much. This time, Lise hides a pastry in the bundle of the loaf. As the woman leaves, she mutters to herself. "I must be going soft." But she isn't sorry.

Date: 2005-08-24 12:36 am (UTC)Rina/Florian "white"
(no subject)
Date: 2005-08-24 01:56 am (UTC)When she met him for the first time, she thought she was afraid of him, she was amazed by him, she was--she didn't know. She was wearing a white scarf over her hair and it blew away, and he caught it out of the wind and gave it back to her with a smile. Her chest began to ache, and she followed him for the rest of the day, until he turned and took her hands and asked her where she was going. She said, "With you."
(no subject)
Date: 2005-08-24 01:58 am (UTC)Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! That's so... ooohhh, Rinnnaaaaa. Wahh. So sweet.
Ummm... Christian/Crisparkle "speechless"
(no subject)
Date: 2005-08-24 03:13 am (UTC)^___^ Aww, thank you. It's just--well.
...Okay, I don't like you.
The priest isn't as old as Christian suspected he would be, and he has a warm, friendly smile, and a wonderful voice. For the first time, Christian is as speechless before a man as a woman.

Neville/Torrens "lance" (In honor of your, er... lack of them. XD)
(no subject)
Date: 2005-08-24 03:44 am (UTC)You're so wicked.
O_O ...Doubly wicked.
He had never seen a dark-skinned boy quite like the ragged one who showed up in Marianstat asking for a doctor and raging with fever. The boy was bruised and bitter, cut and angry, and he told a gabbling, wild story about being chased away for a murder he hadn't committed, separated from a sister he'd never been without. Torrens tended him gently, lanced some wounds, bandaged others. He could heal the boy's body, and would try to ease his furious mind.
Ew.

Date: 2005-08-24 03:55 am (UTC)Zara/Helena. "experiment"
(no subject)
Date: 2005-08-24 04:16 am (UTC)"Where're you going?" Zara demands, following Helena closely with her eyes. Helena laughs, her full, secret laugh that sounds like Indian forests. "Oh, I don't know. I shall make an experiment of my daydreams, and see where I go when I don't decide." "You're crazy," Zara begins, then quiets. "I'm coming too." "Of course," Helena says, a promise. They go out together.

Gideon/Cosette "light"
(no subject)
Date: 2005-08-24 04:54 am (UTC)OTP! ^_______________^
She smiles shyly, covering part of her face with a little lacy fan. When it catches the light, it sparkles. She is an old woman, but when she smiles that way she looks as young as new grass or a girl in a new dress dancing. Gideon is nearing fifty; he bows rather than shaking her hand, and asks her to dance with him some night rather than for an interview. Her husband died three years ago, and she is lonely; she accepts. She is not too old to be loved.
