yay vaguely surreal bookcases?

LOVECRAFT ZOMG. "sometimes scary, sometimes boring" is totally the absolutely perfect description of him. The Rats in the Walls is my favorite story by him, because it's short, freaky, and doesn't leave you thinking "what the hell just happened?" in a boring way but in a fun scary way. Anything to do with The Deep Ones and Innsmouth, also.

I love it!

Well, it's TRUE. I just finished The Mountains of Madness, and I was like '...okay, this is equal parts both. argh'. The Rats in the Walls scares the everloving out of me. XD

It becomes chairs? Bookcases are for books not sittings!

It is so true! I have never read The Mountains Of Madness because I am not a very good fan... I have only read some of the Dream Cycle and most of a Best Of collection ^^; But another good one is The Outsider! And the Cats of Ulthar! And one that I can't remember the title of about a couple of rich kids trying to explore tombs to spice up their lives!

But it's so great! It becomes three little benches or two benches and a table, and I LOVE IT.

The Mountains of Madness is--actually my favourite, boringness aside. I love the way the Elder Ones operate. The Outsider was too Poe for me; and I'm reading the Library of America collection, and it doesn't have the Cats--should I seek that out?

When bookcase=3bench, the whole field of furniture mathematics comes to a grinding halt!

I have a certain strange fondness for Nyarlathothep. He's a scary Hermes-esque guy. You should definitely seek out

I have a certain strange fondness for Nyarlathothep. He's a scary Hermes-esque guy. You should definitely seek out <a href="http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Cats_of_Ulthar"the Cats (though now you have no need to seek); it's part of the Dream Cycle and is about cats! I can understand the Outsider-Poe thing, but I wrote a really cool essay on it once so I can't stop loving it XD
