It is so true! I have never read The Mountains Of Madness because I am not a very good fan... I have only read some of the Dream Cycle and most of a Best Of collection ^^; But another good one is The Outsider! And the Cats of Ulthar! And one that I can't remember the title of about a couple of rich kids trying to explore tombs to spice up their lives!
But it's so great! It becomes three little benches or two benches and a table, and I LOVE IT.
The Mountains of Madness is--actually my favourite, boringness aside. I love the way the Elder Ones operate. The Outsider was too Poe for me; and I'm reading the Library of America collection, and it doesn't have the Cats--should I seek that out?

You should definitely seek out <a href="http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Cats_of_Ulthar"the Cats</a> (though now you have no need to <i>seek</i>); it's part of the Dream Cycle and is about cats! I can understand the Outsider-Poe thing, but I wrote a really cool essay on it once so I can't stop loving it XD
