Okay, guys. I know it's mid-October and like reasonable people we are all spending our money on comfort food. But here is the deal.

raanve is super goddamn awesome. And right now she is trying to get her degree in composition and rhetoric while working a pretty full-time job. Only right now she and her husband are kind of tight financially, such that he is taking another job, and she wants to, but does not have time. Now she is really close to graduating -- in fact, in March, is everything goes well -- and she basically deserves this more than anything, and the first time around she was unable to finish getting her degree, so it would be totally horrible if she got tripped up this time when she is SO CLOSE. Because here's the thing: she loves teaching. And I love listening to her talk about teaching, because it really seems to make her so happy, and it just seems utterly wrong that she might have to stop teaching because her funds gave out MONTHS before she got her degree.

So I am fundraising, goddammit.

It is as it was last time, five-hundred words for every five dollars you donate. I will write you Les Mis, Arthurian legend, Westmark trilogy, Shakespeare, C.J. Cherryh (badly tho), fairy tales, Bible fanfic, Star Trek, Firefly, Greek Myth, and Sherlock. I am also totally capable of edjumacating myself if there are other fandoms in which you are interested.

AS A BONUS, I will also offer art! For fifteen dollars or more you can have the animal of your choice created for you out of paper collage. And in case you're wondering, I am really really good at paper collage. I'm not even kidding. I can offer samples of my work if necessary, but let's just say I was selling these damn things for forty-five dollars apiece for a while, in a local gallery. So this is awesome and you definitely want it. Christmas is coming up! I will even frame the bastards.

On my way to Newport yesterday I passed by the Ridge Road farm and both their red piggies were out. They're so beautiful! I really hope we have pigs again; having Christmas and Bertha was such a great experience, and I really would like to have a breeding sow that we could actually keep. Mama and Maria are discussing the possibility of raising calves and selling them at auction in adolescence--we'd actually make money off them that way, and we wouldn't have to butcher them ourselves, which was definitely the most traumatising part for me. I would like that a lot.

We've raised 275 dollars so far for mhari's family! I would love to make it to $300, so if you can spare even five dollars, that would be completely fantastic. You guys have been so great, and I promise I am working steadily on everybody's fic.

I decided if I can't go to Dunedin and be with saucynuisance I might as well go to Greece as New Zealand, so it looks like that is what is ultimately going to happen. I e-mailed Dr. Hutto yesterday to ask if he would write me a reference, and I need to e-mail the Dean of Students also as soon as possible. There is so much paperwork, and I have to get my passport renewed.

I went to my first ever viewing Thursday--a patient of Mama. It was kind of weird. On T.V. &c dead people look exactly the same as live people; they don't in real life. My aunt has decided that she's going to cremate my grandparents when they die, which I'm not sure how I feel about, I kind of hate the idea of cremation. Me, I want to be buried in a cardboard carton under an apple tree (fruit trees love bone marrow, it is super good for them) and get broken down back into the earth as soon as possible, not be preserved whole in a box or turn into a handful of dust. Of course that means making provisions, but I'm willing to do that.

I'm kind of ready to get back to school (I say that now, but I bet you a week after going back I will be suffering from full-blown symptoms again and wanting to die).

So, guys, you probably know that mhari's father died the day before Thanksgiving. It was completely unexpected and their family was in no way prepared--he went into the hospital with a slight fever, got an infection in his heart, and had to have emergency surgery without having time to get off his blood-thinners, and as a result he bled out during the surgery.

Currently her family is. Not doing well financially. They don't have a source of steady income, and their mom (my Other Mom) suffers from clinical depression and will have a really hard time finding a job.

Now is a really important time for them to be able to keep things together from a monetary standpoint while they're grieving and dealing with the aftermath, and with that in mind, it's time for a fanfic drive.

So you probably can guess the drill! I will write a hundred words of anything you like per five dollars donated, ad nauseam. I write Arthurian (in many incarnations), Les Mis, Westmark, Biblefic, some Firefly, Star Trek TOS, X-Men: Evolutions, and any and all crossovers of the above. I'm good for het, slash, and gen. I will even (God help me) continue the great Gawain-is-a-Vampire Romance Novel. You name your price, my friends.
